I can’t believe it’s been 25 years since the very first Animal Crossing game came out on the N64 in Japan! We’ve been lucky enough to get the games over here too, but it really blew up with New Horizons in 2020 – it was everywhere! Now, like a lot of fans, I’m really hoping we get a new Animal Crossing game for the Switch 2. I’m already dreaming about what that could be like!
While a major new installment hasn’t arrived yet, the 3.0 update and the Switch 2 version of Animal Crossing: New Horizons represent the most progress we’ve seen toward one. Nintendo continues to support Animal Crossing, releasing free content and merchandise – a lot of it in 2026! Now, it looks like we have even more to anticipate this fall, thanks to a new collaboration with Bandai Namco.
Bandai Namco and Nintendo have announced a new line of plush toys called the Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Tomodachi Dolls. These soft, flocked plushies, featuring ten beloved villagers from the game, will be available in September 2026.

Each doll costs 500 yen (about $3 USD) – or 550 yen (around $3.50) with tax. Please keep in mind that shipping isn’t included in that price, and if you’re ordering from outside of Japan, you’ll likely have to pay import fees. Currently, these dolls are only available in Japan.
The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Friend Dolls are a higher-end plush option, costing 5,500 yen each – about $35 USD. Please note that this price doesn’t include shipping or any import fees. Currently, these dolls are only available in Japan, but due to the game’s popularity worldwide, they might become available in the U.S. and other countries in the future.
Although it’s not official, past Animal Crossing products have often been released in the US after coming out in Japan. It looks like the same could happen with the new ACNH merchandise planned for June. We can expect a variety of items later this year, including dolls, Switch controllers, headsets, and keychains, meaning there will be plenty of Animal Crossing gear available in 2026.
Nintendo hasn’t announced a follow-up to New Horizons yet, but fans can still enjoy the series with these new products. We’re hoping to hear news soon about when these latest Animal Crossing items will be available in Western regions.
