Junji Ito is famous worldwide for creating truly terrifying manga and anime. As a new anime series based on his scariest stories approaches, it’s no surprise that fans are still eager for merchandise. What *is* surprising is a recently created item that perfectly captures Ito’s unsettling style and connects directly to one of his most well-known horror stories.
A life-sized coffin featuring Soichi, a famous character from Junji Ito’s horror manga, has been created for the Junji Ito store in Japan. Soichi is known for causing trouble, and this coffin recreates a key scene from Ito’s story “Coffin Tub,” where the character appears as a vampire. The coffin’s lid specifically depicts this frightening image. The official store describes this new item as a major reveal.

Junji Ito’s Spooky Future
A new anime series based on the works of Junji Ito, called “Junji Ito Crimson,” is in production. While the specific stories that will be adapted haven’t been announced yet, there’s a wealth of material to choose from. Previous anime adaptations like *The Junji Ito Collection* and *Junji Ito’s Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre* covered some of his work, and stories like *Uzumaki* and *Gyo* have also been animated. Many other stories remain untouched, including popular choices like *Mystery of The Haunted House, Enigma at Amigura Faults*, a sequel to *Hanging Balloons*, and *The Coffin*, which haven’t been adapted into any animated format.
Junji Ito, the creator of popular manga, is expanding into live-action films. He’s partnered with Fangoria Studios to create a trilogy of movies. So far, *Bloodsucking Darkness* and *Mystery of The Haunted House* (which will be split into two films) are confirmed. Because Ito is still creating new manga, fans can expect even more of his stories to be adapted for the screen in the future.
