Anime fans have enjoyed many surprising crossovers over the years, like battles between characters from Dragon Ball Z and One Piece, or team-ups featuring Devilman and Cyborg 009. Even Hello Kitty once joined forces with Mobile Suit Gundam! Now, a particularly unusual collaboration is coming soon: Case Closed‘s detective Conan Edogawa will meet the magical girls of Precure in a special two-part episode, promising a unique and interesting interaction between these very different worlds.
I’m really excited to see what happens when the worlds of Detective Conan and Detective Precure collide! It’s a special crossover event that will unfold across both shows. It all kicks off on May 31st with an episode of Detective Precure called “The Detectives Assemble.” What’s interesting is that while both series feature detectives, the Precure girls have superpowers – something you don’t typically see in the more grounded world of Conan. Here’s how Precure is setting up the beginning of this crossover…
Anna and her friends are assisting glass artist Misako Shingo with preparations for an exhibit at the Hosho Museum. The centerpiece of the show is a glass slipper titled “The Forgotten Thing at 12,” but things go awry when a box of fake resin slippers spills from a cart, creating a distraction. During the confusion, the real “Forgotten Thing at 12” goes missing. Suspecting the Phantom Thieves, Anna and Mikuru begin searching for clues outside the museum, where they surprisingly encounter Conan, Ran, and Kogoro, who happen to be visiting Mirai City.
Conan x Precure
I’m so excited for the next Detective Conan anime crossover episode! It’s coming out on June 6th, and it’s called “The Perfect Truth (Answer)”. They’ve given us a little sneak peek at what happens, and it’s adorable. Basically, Ayumi gets all caught up in a series of jewel robberies happening in town, and because she’s a huge Pretty Cure fan, she thinks the thieves will attract the magical girls! Conan and the Junior Detective League end up guarding a jewelry store, and it seems like the police quickly catch the criminals… but Ayumi spots something that doesn’t quite add up. It sounds like this mystery has a really cute and unexpected twist, and I can’t wait to see how Conan solves it!
The surprising crossover between the two series came about thanks to the efforts of the producers involved, despite the shows airing on different Japanese networks. Takeshi Yoshida, producer of Detective Conan, explained how he initiated the collaboration. He fondly remembers first meeting Producer Tada a year ago, and despite the numerous challenges – different TV stations, production companies, and publishers being involved – he was convinced it would be a fascinating project and pushed to make it happen.
However, the producer of Detective Precure, Kanako Tada, was very enthusiastic about bringing the magical girls and the young detective together. She explained that she had approached Producer Yoshida a year ago and was thrilled to see the collaboration finally happen. Knowing there would be challenges, she and the Detective Conan team focused on entertaining the audience, which ultimately made this unique crossover possible.
