Now that the initial rush has calmed down, it’s clear that Embark Studios’ *ARC Raiders* had a strong launch on PC. According to SteamDB, the game reached a peak of nearly 190,000 players playing at the same time.
This is a strong showing compared to other games of its type, although it didn’t quite reach the popularity of the open beta for *Battlefield 6*. Since the game was also available on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, it likely had a significantly larger number of players overall during the test period.
ARC Raiders releases on October 30th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The game is set in a future where humanity lives in an underground base called Speranza, while robots called ARC wander the world above. Players take on the role of Raiders, venturing to the surface to collect resources and fight both ARC robots and other players.
The recent server test focused solely on the Dam Battlegrounds, but the full game will include locations like Buried City, The Spaceport, Blue Gate, and a place called Stella Montis. Keep an eye out for more information, and check out Embark Studios’ explanation of why they didn’t release the game immediately after their April playtest.
