It feels like a long time coming, but we finally have a release date for the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced remake! Ubisoft and Vantage Studios announced it will launch on July 9th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Players with a Ubisoft+ subscription can play it on day one.
The core story of Edward Kenway – a pirate who becomes a skilled Assassin and famous captain – hasn’t changed. However, the game has been completely recreated using the newest version of the Anvil Engine. This update brings enhanced visuals, including improved environments, lighting, weather effects, and higher-resolution textures.
The game’s combat and parkour systems have been completely reworked. Combat now features perfect dodges and parries, letting you chain up to four takedowns together. Parkour includes moves fans of Assassin’s Creed Shadows will recognize, like free jumping and quick directional escapes. Whether you prefer sneaking around (with a new free-crouch ability) or direct combat, moving through the world feels smoother and more natural than before.
Beyond all of that, the update includes a ton of new content! Every weapon on the Jackdaw can now be upgraded with alternate firing modes, and you can recruit three new officers – Lucy Baldwin, The Padre, and Dead Man Smith – each offering unique naval skills. You can even get a pet cat or monkey for your ship! We’ve brought back sea shanties, adding a few new tunes, and there’s fresh story content focused on Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet.
I’m really excited about Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced and I’ll be keeping an eye out for more info, especially what’s changing from the original game. I want to know what won’t be carrying over, so I’m ready for what’s new!
