I was so hyped for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, this total remake of one of my favorite games! But, I just learned from the reveal that it won’t include the multiplayer or any of the DLC. It’s a bit disappointing, but I’m still really excited to see how they rebuild the core game.
According to creative director Paul Fu, the team is concentrating all their efforts on Edward Kenway’s story in the Caribbean. They want to remain faithful to the classic action-adventure gameplay of the original game, reimagining the legend for a 2026 audience. While this approach makes sense, it’s a bit of a letdown that the Freedom Cry expansion, which adds 15 hours of gameplay, won’t be included.
What about the parts of the original game where you played as someone working for Abstergo? It’s a bit complicated. The developer confirmed that the modern-day sections in this version will show Edward grappling with his own inner conflicts. So, while there will be modern-day moments, don’t necessarily expect to be running around Abstergo headquarters like you did before.
On July 9th, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The standard version costs $60 and includes the main game. A Deluxe Edition is also available for $70, and it comes with special items for Edward, including a unique sword, pistol, trinket, and outfit, plus a Master Assassin Character Perk.
