Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’s Map Revealed, Largely Unchanged From Original

Ubisoft has begun sharing details about the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, but many specifics are still unknown. Fortunately, the Assassin’s Creed fan account Zephyrss recently posted marketing materials and assets online, giving us a first look at the game’s map.

The game appears to offer two map options: a wider version and a square one. The wider map simply adds more surrounding land and sea. The square map, however, provides a closer view of the game world and confirms that the remake won’t drastically alter the original layout. Compared to the map in the original Black Flag, Resynced features the same land areas, though the overall size might be different, potentially offering more space to explore.

The map isn’t meant to be a practical guide for playing the game; it’s more of a decorative piece, designed to be printed and displayed as artwork.

The social media posts also featured images Ubisoft plans to use for various purposes, such as displaying patch notes, creating title screens for announcements, counting down to release, and designing potential box art. We also saw other graphics, mostly in the grey, white, and blue colors of Black Flag, and in-game icons that can be used elsewhere.

Last week, Ubisoft announced Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, which will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S starting July 9th. The game will also be included with Ubisoft+ on its launch day. The standard edition will cost $60, while a Deluxe Edition, featuring a Master Assassin perk, a new outfit for Edward, and a special weapon set, will be priced at $70.

The company has confirmed that this version of the game won’t have multiplayer or downloadable content. Paul Fu, the creative director, explained that the team is completely dedicated to Edward Kenway’s story in the Caribbean. While the modern-day sections from the original Black Flag will be included, they’ll also feature new scenes exploring Edward’s inner conflicts. The decision to exclude DLC means players won’t experience Freedom Cry, a significant expansion from the original game that centered on the character Adewale, a former slave from Trinidad.

A trailer for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced was released last week, giving fans a sneak peek at a new quest called Blackbeard’s Treasure. The trailer shows Anne Bonny watching Edward and singing, leading into a fight between Edward and Blackbeard.

Here’s a breakdown of the 15 biggest improvements in Resynced. We’ve also put together a visual analysis of the updated version, so be sure to check that out too.
