Assassin’s Creed Invictus Gameplay Featured Iconic Characters Fighting in Arenas – Rumor

Recent playtests of Ubisoft’s upcoming multiplayer game, Assassin’s Creed Invictus, haven’t gone well, but details about the game have been scarce. According to Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, who saw gameplay footage, Invictus will focus on arena-style combat, rather than the competitive courses some people previously expected.

Originally, Assassin’s Creed Invictus was thought to play like Fall Guys, but recent reports indicate it will actually be a combat-focused game featuring characters from across the Assassin’s Creed series. Leaks show arenas inspired by both Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

We don’t yet know which characters players will be able to control, but the game will include “several iconic Assassins” from past titles.

Back in February, a Ubisoft employee privately criticized the upcoming game Assassin’s Creed Invictus. Leaker xj0nathan shared that the developer claimed very few of their coworkers enjoyed the game, suggesting only managers were publicly supportive. The developer reportedly described Invictus as having poor animations, unattractive and cartoonish characters, and silly sound and visual effects.

This game is terrible. The animations are silly, the characters look awful and cartoonish – especially their faces – and the sound and visual effects are just plain bad. Even the combat areas are disappointing. It’s hard to imagine who would enjoy this game, or why it was even created. Perhaps it’s aimed at very young children, like six-year-olds, but if so, parents will likely be pressured to spend more money on in-game purchases.

A unique feature of Assassin’s Creed Invictus will be its arena-style combat, which differs from previous multiplayer modes in the series. Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood was the first main game to include multiplayer, letting players customize assassins with equipment and abilities to hunt down opponents. This system, and those in later games, heavily emphasized stealth gameplay.

Instead of competing against each other, Assassin’s Creed Unity let players team up and play through special missions woven into the game’s story.

After the original Unity game, the Assassin’s Creed series mostly stopped including traditional multiplayer modes. Newer games like Odyssey, Valhalla, and Shadows instead featured a system where players could see where others had fallen and choose to avenge them for rewards – a type of multiplayer that doesn’t happen in real-time.

The most recent single-player Assassin’s Creed game was Assassin’s Creed Shadows, released in 2025. Currently, Ubisoft is preparing to launch Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced on July 9th. Looking ahead, players can also anticipate Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe, which promises a darker tone while maintaining the core Assassin’s Creed gameplay experience.
