Things are pretty chaotic over at Ubisoft right now, if I’m being honest. It feels like they’ve hit the reset button internally, and it’s causing a lot of issues. We’re seeing projects get cancelled, and even games I was really excited about, like the rumored Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, are facing delays. Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still in development, which is good, but it’s all a bit of a mess. And honestly, even before all this recent stuff, I was worried about what was happening with Assassin’s Creed Invictus – its future was really uncertain.
The current progress of the game is unclear, but according to leaker @xj0nathan (who previously shared accurate information about Rainbow Six Siege X), even someone working on the project doubts this new *Fall Guyslike direction for the series.
According to those spoken to, no one seems to like the Invictus project. It appears only management is publicly supportive.
Honestly, this game is just…bad. The animations are so clunky and over-the-top, and the characters? Ugh, they look like terrible cartoons – especially their faces! The sound and special effects are just silly, and the arenas where you fight are a real letdown. I’m genuinely confused about who they even made this for. Maybe really young kids, like six-year-olds? Even then, I feel bad for their parents, because I can already see them getting bombarded with requests for in-game purchases. It feels like it’s designed to constantly ask for more money.
When Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming asked about the style of the new Fall Guys image – a bean dressed as Ezio from Assassin’s Creed 2 – @xj0nathan clarified that the image wasn’t representative of the final look. He explained the game is aiming for a style similar to Fortnite, but less cartoonish, falling somewhere between realistic and cel-shaded graphics.
As Henderson noted, caution is needed when sharing statements from someone who is understandably upset with the current situation, particularly if others on the team disagree. @xj0nathan shared a similar experience last year, even before the recent issues at Ubisoft, suggesting the statement isn’t necessarily due to dissatisfaction.
You’re right, we shouldn’t assume everyone on the team feels the same way. Some people might actually be excited about the new project – just something to keep in mind! Feel free to check with different people to get a broader range of opinions.
Alongside the announcements of Assassin’s Creed Shadows (originally known as Codename Red) and the still-in-development Codename Hexe in September 2022, Ubisoft revealed Assassin’s Creed Invictus as a separate, multiplayer-focused game. The team behind popular titles like For Honor and Rainbow Six Siege is working on it. While it’s intended to be more accessible than past Assassin’s Creed multiplayer experiences, Ubisoft hasn’t yet shared specific details about how the game will actually play.
Henderson said the project, called Invictus, was supposed to launch last year, but it never did. There haven’t been any official announcements about it recently, so it’s unclear if it will be cancelled.
🚨 Leaked: Assassin’s Creed Invictus – Developers reportedly dislike the game!
I mentioned this a while ago – Invictus is shaping up to be a bit like “Fall Guys” meets “Assassin’s Creed.” It’s a somewhat lighthearted game with Fortnite-style graphics, featuring a series of challenges that lead to…

The game isn’t anything like that, actually. It’s similar to Fortnite, but the art style is a bit more grounded – not as cartoonish. It falls somewhere between realistic and a cartoon look.

Like I mentioned before, I actually said something similar last year, even before everything that’s been happening at Ubisoft. So, it’s not about me being unhappy with the company, honestly. But you’re right to point out that we shouldn’t assume everyone on the team feels the same way. Some of them are probably really excited about what’s coming…
