Attack on Titan Unveils New Project to Commemorate a Major Milestone

In September 2025, fans will celebrate 16 years since the first appearance of *Attack on Titan* in Bessatsu Shounen Magazine, and a special collectible will be released to commemorate the occasion. The series has resonated with audiences worldwide thanks to its compelling and heartbreaking story, even years after it finished. Although the manga ended in 2021, the anime adaptation took several years to complete, and production even switched studios when WIT Studio found the schedule too demanding.

According to Oricon, this special anniversary project lets fans see Hajime Isayama’s original artwork and vote for their favorite from a collection of 52. These illustrations have been remastered in full color as collectible items, and fans can even use a unique serial number to design their own merchandise. The project also features a brand-new, exclusive illustration display.

The manga series spanned 34 volumes, and a collection of 52 illustrations has been chosen from those volumes. These visuals include things like volume covers, individual panels from the story, and extra artwork created by the author. The cover of the official artbook, *FLY*, featuring popular characters, will be among the selected images. Details about the project and any further anniversary celebrations haven’t been announced yet.

What’s Next For Attack on Titan?

The popular manga recently celebrated its 15th anniversary with the release of an official artbook called FLY, and fans have more to look forward to this year, though details are still under wraps. While the main story has finished, there’s been no announcement about a sequel or spin-off. The ending hinted at the possibility of future events, but so far, the creator, Hajime Isayama, hasn’t indicated any plans to continue the story. Isayama faced a lot of stress and often felt burned out trying to meet the demanding deadlines throughout the manga’s publication.

As the story went on, it became harder to satisfy fans, and the ending proved to be incredibly divisive, even sparking controversy among manga readers. The anime adaptation premiered in 2013, four years after the manga first came out, and finished airing in 2023, around the time the series celebrated its tenth anniversary. While the author isn’t currently working on a new manga series, fans can still look forward to the release of the *Attack on Titan* Season 4 SteelBook Blu-ray on November 11, 2025.
