Aubrey Plaza’s baby bump is in bloom.
The actress, 41, stepped onto the red carpet for the first time since revealing she’s expecting, attending the premiere of her Prime Video series, Kevin, on April 16th.
The former Parks and Recreation star wore a short, white and blue floral dress by Stella McCartney, paired with white heels. As a fun nod to the show, she also carried a small statue of a tuxedo cat, referencing Kevin’s famous pet.
Kevin’s co-star Whoopi Goldberg and guest star Quinta Brunson playfully posed with Christina Plaza, each gently holding one side of her belly while Plaza beamed with a bright smile.
On April 7th, Plaza announced she’s pregnant with her first child, who she’s expecting with her partner, Christopher Abbott. She was seen showing off her baby bump while walking her dog in New York City the following day.
And amid her pregnancy news, she shared insight into her feelings about becoming a mother.
She recently mentioned on the SmartLess podcast (in an episode previewed by Page Six on April 13th) that she’s always been curious about it. She described it as something that just seems really interesting.
After a challenging year, including the loss of her husband Jeff Baena to suicide in 2025, Plaza is starting a new and happy phase of her life. She has openly discussed her grief with her friend Amy Poehler.
In an August 2025 interview on Amy Poehler’s podcast, Good Hang, Aubrey Plaza said she’s doing alright. ‘I’m grateful to be moving through life,’ she explained, ‘but it’s a challenge every day.’

Though they haven’t publicly addressed their relationship, actors Plaza and Abbott have worked together before. They first appeared in the 2021 film Black Bear and later shared the stage in the 2023 play Danny and the Deep Blue Sea. News of their relationship emerged shortly after Plaza confirmed she was pregnant, following an appearance together at a party celebrating Abbott’s play, Death of a Salesman.
Although they generally keep their personal lives private, Abbott told the New York Times in 2023 that she and her partner aren’t afraid to be themselves, even if that means being unconventional or a little odd.
As Plaza grows her family, read on to learn more about her and Abbott’s road to parenthood.

Aubrey Plaza and Christopher Abbott first appeared together on screen in 2019, playing a married couple in the second part of the independent film Black Bear.
The actor, known for their work on Parks and Recreation and also a producer on the complex drama, told The Los Angeles Times in 2021 that the project was a passion project.
The first part of the movie centers around Allison, a filmmaker played by Aubrey, who is struggling with writer’s block. She retreats to a lake house and tries to inspire herself by subtly manipulating her married hosts, Blair (Sarah Gadon) and Gabe (Christopher).
In the second part of the film, titled “The Bear by the Boat House,” Allison plays an actress whose husband, director Gabe, subjects her to abuse as part of his artistic vision.
She shared that taking on this movie was a difficult decision, knowing it would bring up painful emotions. Over the years, she’s found that drawing on her own life experiences and challenges helps her process and heal, and she approached this role with that same intention.

Aubrey Plaza and Christopher Abbott previously acted together in the film Black Bear, and later appeared on stage together in the 2023 Off-Broadway play Danny and the Deep Blue Sea. Aubrey described working with Christopher during the show’s eleven-week run as a dream come true.
She told The New York Times in September 2023 that she loves working with someone who is both engaged and detached. This balance, she explained, creates a fun, productive, and comfortable environment. She enjoys being playful and not taking things too seriously, and finds it rare to find a scene partner who can match that energy.

Christopher was quick to compliment his fellow actor. He told the New York Times that they both felt comfortable being themselves, even if that meant being a little odd or unconventional.

Aubrey shared that when they were first making Black Bear, she nearly wrote to Christopher, encouraging him to be in the film. She decided not to in the end, but fortunately, he agreed to join the project anyway.
“In my opinion,” she told Vulture in November 2023, “he’s the best male actor in our country today.”

Aubrey and her husband, Jeff Baena, were together for 14 years before he passed away in January 2025. She has spoken before about the challenges of living her life publicly.
In a 2021 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she admitted that celebrity and the attention that comes with it are intimidating. She explained that her way of coping is to find humor in those situations, even if it means she appears a little odd.
It also meant she occasionally needed to talk about difficult personal experiences, such as her sadness following the suicide of her husband, Jeff, whom she had privately separated from after over three years of marriage.
While talking with Amy Poehler on her podcast, Good Hang, in August 2025, she described her grief as similar to the feeling evoked by the horror movie The Gorge. She explained that it felt like being constantly surrounded by overwhelming sadness, a ‘giant ocean of awfulness,’ and sometimes she just wanted to give in to it.
She paused, then said she sometimes simply stares at it. Other times, she just wants to escape it, but it’s constantly present – always with her.

Aubrey’s representative announced on April 7, 2026, that the actress, known for My Old Ass, is pregnant with her first child with Christopher. She quickly followed up by sharing details about her pregnancy.
She announced on the April 20, 2026 episode of the SmartLess podcast that she is pregnant. ‘Today was a big day – I went to the doctor,’ she shared.
She shared that she’s always been curious about becoming a mother, finding the experience itself fascinating.

Aubrey and Christopher were first seen together publicly just two days after news of Aubrey’s pregnancy became known. They attended an after-party for the Broadway show The Death of a Salesman, where Christopher played the role of Biff Loman.
