Prime Video just dropped the official trailer for Kevin, a new adult animated show created by Aubrey Plaza. You can start watching the series on the streaming platform later this month.
I’m so excited for Kevin! It’s officially coming to Prime Video on April 20, 2026, and all eight episodes will be available to watch at once. They just released a new trailer, and it looks hilarious – definitely a show for adults, though! Check it out below if you’re curious, but it’s not really one for the kids.
Kevin Is Not Your Average Animated Series
According to Amazon, the story of Kevin centers around a cat named Kevin who, after his owners unexpectedly break up, decides to leave them and find a new home at an animal rescue in Astoria, Queens. There, he joins a group of quirky animals who help him discover what he truly wants in life.
Aubrey Plaza has described the animated series Kevin as feeling like a traditional, comforting show. She explained it centers around a group of cats who share a home and experience various romantic entanglements, always returning to their shared living space, ‘Furrever Friends.’ Plaza highlighted its cozy atmosphere, noting it has a distinct New York and independent film feel, and anticipates it will surprise viewers.
Aubrey Plaza, known for her role in Parks and Recreation, explained that she believes a lot of modern animation is very quick-paced and chaotic, but the show she’s involved with has a unique and more relaxed feel that she’s particularly enthusiastic about.
Aubrey Plaza Co-Created Kevin
Kevin was created with Joe Wengert, who also served as showrunner. Dan Murphy, Chris Prynoski, Ben Kalina, Shannon Prynoski, and Antonio Canobbio all executive produced the show. Production companies involved were Titmouse, Evil Hag Productions, and Amazon MGM Studios.
Plaza voices Dana, one of the humans left behind when Kevin sets off on his adventure. Jason Schwartzman (known for Isle of Dogs and The French Dispatch) provides the voice for the main cat character. The series also features Whoopi Goldberg (Sister Act) as Cupcake, John Waters (Hairspray, Liar Mouth) as Armando, Aparna Nancherla (The Great North, Bob’s Burgers) as Judy, Gil Ozeri (Big Mouth, Monsters) as Seth, and Amy Sedaris (BoJack Horseman, Yo Gabba Gabba!) as Brandi.
The show Kevin boasts a wide range of well-known guest voices. These include Jim O’Heir, known from Parks and Recreation; Cary Elwes of The Princess Bride; Addison Rae, who appears in Thanksgiving; Charles Melton from Riverdale; Maria Bamford of Big Mouth; Nicole Byer from Velma; Patti LuPone, famous for Agatha All Along; Quinta Brunson of Abbott Elementary; Seth Kirschner from Little Demon; Stephen Malkmus of Sweethearts; and Tig Notaro from Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, as well as many other talented actors.
Kevin starts streaming on Prime Video on Apr. 20, 2026.
