News is that Austin Butler IS Lance Armstrong!
Lance Armstrong, once a celebrated cyclist who won the Tour de France seven times in a row, had his titles taken away when a doping scandal came to light. While a 2015 film called ‘The Program’ told his story to critical acclaim, it wasn’t a commercial success. Now, a new film about Armstrong is in the works, and it’s already generating buzz. Austin Butler will play Armstrong, and the film will be directed by Edward Berger, known for directing “All Quiet on the Western Front” and “Conclave.” This new project is expected to receive much more attention.
Austin Butler IS Lance Armstrong but who else is onboard
Scott Stuber, formerly the head of film at Netflix and now with United Artists, will produce a film about the life of Armstrong – with Armstrong’s full cooperation, marking the first time he’s allowed his life story to be told on screen. Stuber is currently up for a Best Picture Oscar for Frankenstein. Zach Baylin, who received an Oscar nomination for King Richard, is writing the screenplay. The project is generating significant buzz and attracting competitive bids from major studios.
Just how busy is Austin Butler…
Butler has a very full schedule coming up, with roles in several major films including Michael Mann’s Heat 2 (which Stuber is also producing), Joseph Kosinski’s Miami Vice, and Luca Guadagnino’s American Psycho movie.
Did Armstrong ever rehabilitate his reputation?
For years, Lance Armstrong insisted he hadn’t used performance-enhancing drugs, but he finally admitted to doping in 2013. Since then, he’s worked to restore his image by dedicating himself to cancer research. This commitment stems from his own battle with testicular cancer, and led him to create the Livestrong Foundation, which has raised hundreds of millions of dollars.
