The Alien franchise has expanded beyond the original films to include comics, video games, toys, and TV shows. While the xenomorphs in the movies have remained largely consistent in appearance, these creatures have taken on many different forms in other media. Interestingly, most of these unique xenomorph variations haven’t appeared in the films themselves. To stay fresh and exciting, the Alien movies should embrace these evolved designs and introduce them to the big screen.

At the start of the 2000s, DC Comics was in a stronger position than Marvel, having successfully navigated the challenges of the 1990s. With the 20th anniversary of the Crisis event approaching, a new team of writers and editors wanted to honor the past. This led to the planning of Infinite Crisis, which launched in October 2005. Like its predecessor, Infinite Crisis would dramatically alter DC’s established history, but with a different goal in mind. It was a bold move that delighted fans and ushered in a new era of storytelling.

When the Xbox 360 first launched, Condemned: Criminal Origins was a big success, earning positive reviews and selling well. Critics especially liked its impressive graphics and sound. It became one of the best-selling launch titles for the console, exceeding the developers’ expectations and ranking as the fifth highest-selling game at launch.

Osgood Perkins’ film The Monkey, based on Stephen King’s 1980 novel, became available to stream on Kanopy on October 31st. Just eight months after its release in theaters, the movie is now available for free streaming, though you’ll need a library card to sign up for Kanopy. The film stars Theo James as twin brothers, Hal and Bill, whose lives are thrown into chaos when they find a strange wind-up monkey in their attic, leading to a series of terrifying deaths.

If this is true, the PlayStation 6 might be the only new console that still makes you pay extra to use its online services.

GOG is currently giving away a free PC game called Statis, a sci-fi horror adventure played from an overhead, point-and-click perspective. It’s the first game from developer The Brotherhood, who recently released Stasis: Bone Totem in 2023 – a surprisingly great horror title. While the original Statis from 2015 isn’t quite as polished, it’s still a good choice if you’re looking for more sci-fi horror experiences.

Funko recently released a Pop! figure of Art the Clown from Terrifier 3, and some lucky collectors might find a rare, glow-in-the-dark Chase version. These black light Pops are highly sought after, so many collectors will likely buy several to increase their chances of finding one. Also new to the collection is a Pop! figure of Victoria (played by Samantha Scaffidi), and it’s a fantastic addition!

Sony Pictures Entertainment has enjoyed significant box office success this year, largely due to the popular anime films Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle and Chainsaw Man The Movie: The Reze Arc. The studio is now actively exploring opportunities to create live-action adaptations of other anime properties. According to Executive VP Shebnem Askin, Sony is meeting with various production companies to identify promising anime stories for potential worldwide live-action releases, a key focus of their presence at TIFFCOM.
