Avengers: Doomsday – New Super Soldier Brotherhood Forms in the MCU

A new team of enhanced soldiers may emerge in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, potentially filling the role left vacant by Captain America (Steve Rogers). This insight comes from David Harbour, who is returning as Red Guardian in an upcoming Marvel film. He recently shared with Entertainment Tonight that a strong connection is developing between his character, Bucky Barnes, and John Walker.

I’m really enjoying the close bond my character has formed with the Winter Soldier and the new Captain America, played by Wyatt Russell. It’s been a lot of fun exploring that dynamic – almost like a playful love triangle – between the three of them, and I like how it’s developing.

These three characters all have a connection to the super soldier serum in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – the formula that gave Steve Rogers his abilities and made him Captain America. Bucky Barnes, a friend and ally of Rogers, was also given a version of the serum by the organization Hydra, who used it to turn him into a deadly assassin known as the Winter Soldier.

John Walker secretly took an enhanced version of the Super Soldier serum, hoping to follow in Steve Rogers’ footsteps and become the new Captain America. When he couldn’t meet those expectations, he stepped back from the spotlight and began working as the U.S. Agent, taking assignments from Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.

Alexei was created by the Soviet Union to be their equivalent of Captain America, enhanced with a super-soldier serum. He was physically as strong as Steve Rogers, though years of imprisonment and a hard life had diminished his peak condition.

It’s interesting that Sam Wilson, formerly known as the Falcon, eventually became Captain America. Unlike previous Captains, he never received the super-soldier serum.
