We received a special copy of the Marathon Collector’s Edition from Bungie before the game comes out on PS5 on March 5th.
Bungie’s new game, Marathon, is shaping up to be one of the best-looking games of 2026. From the detailed environments on the planet Tau Ceti IV to its high-quality cinematic scenes, the game is visually striking.
I’m really happy to say the Collector’s Edition looks amazing – honestly, it’s one of the best-looking special editions I’ve ever seen. It’s still keeping up the good work in terms of presentation!
The game comes in special hexagon-shaped packaging with a stylish sleeve, and includes a cool lenticular poster. Everything is branded with the game’s Marathon theme, and the artwork features the runners – who are actually synthetic beings controlled by uploaded minds.
We really enjoyed how revealing each layer felt like discovering something new about the artwork and packaging. It made us unusually careful and deliberate as we opened the box, savoring the experience.
This poster’s design evokes a nostalgic feeling for when we used to physically trade games. I personally remember struggling to keep the lenticular case for Batman: Arkham City when I tried to trade it in at a store – I wasn’t successful, though!
The most exciting part is what’s inside! We’re revealing six art postcards that show off character designs for some of the different types of runners you’ll find in the game, including the Thief, Assassin, and Destroyer.
We’re also including two small collectible items: a tiny silkworm figure, representing the printing worms from the game’s story, and an embroidered patch you can iron onto clothing.
Okay, so the final piece is a seriously cool 1/6th scale statue of the Thief! I’m really digging the design, especially how they captured him running. But honestly, what really makes it amazing is the detail – the fallen rival runner and the gun lying underwater? It just completes the whole scene and makes it so dynamic. It’s a fantastic addition!
We’re a bit let down that the collector’s edition doesn’t include a physical game disc, but it wasn’t entirely unexpected. If you order online, you’ll receive a download code. There’s also a cheaper version of the collector’s edition available if you just want the statue and other collectibles, and don’t need the game download.
This announcement might not be popular with everyone, but Bungie consistently creates impressive collector’s editions.
