Playground Productions and Mega Cat Studios are releasing a new Backyard Baseball game on July 9th. It will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam.

The Iconic Classic Levels Up
Okay, so I’m super excited about the new Backyard Baseball! It’s coming out in the summer of 2026, and it’s basically a total revamp of the classic game we all know and love. They’ve kept what made it great, but added a bunch of modern gaming stuff. I’ll be able to play in 11 updated stadiums, pick from 24 original teams, and there are 30 of my favorite Backyard characters to choose from. Plus, there are 6 different ways to play, tons of unlockables, and achievements to go for. Seriously, I can’t wait!

Power-Ups
Get ready for even more exciting power-ups! Pitchers can now throw flaming fastballs, wacky curveballs, and tricky spitballs to surprise batters. And when you’re up to bat, you can use crazy bunts, low-flying undergrounders, and the powerful aluminum bat to score big!
How to Play
Okay, so Backyard Baseball is special to me because we always played it with our own little twists. Here’s how we did things – these are the rules we used to have a blast!
- Pick Your Team – Choose from 30 beloved Backyard kids to assemble your roster.
- Set Your Line Up – Assign positions and a batting order. Choose wisely!
- Play Like a Kid – In the Backyard there are no injuries, and while all kids make errors, it is a feature you can turn off. Need to use a tee? No problem! There are plenty of ways to customize your experience, but above all: have fun and Play Like a Kid™!
