Bake Off star tipped to host Strictly Come Dancing – as presenting shortlist narrows

With rumors swirling about who will replace Claudia Winkleman on Strictly Come Dancing, Mel Giedroyc is now being considered as a potential host. The search for someone to fill her shoes is really heating up!

Sources say that former Great British Bake Off host Giedroyc is being considered by Strictly Come Dancing producers to replace Tess Daly, who currently presents the show.

According to a source, the host of the Clauditorium needs to be someone kind and funny who can lighten the mood when the celebrity and professional dancers find out their scores.

According to a source at The Sun, Mel is considered a good replacement for Claudia because both women are intelligent, humorous, and known for being collaborative and pleasant on set.

The BBC has said it will reveal the new hosts soon, but hasn’t responded to any rumors circulating right now.

Reports over the weekend suggested Emma Willis and Zoe Ball are the frontrunners to replace Tess Daly, but it’s believed only one of them will get the job.

According to a source, the show’s executives are looking for a hosting duo: a conventional presenter and a female stand-up comedian. They want to maintain the type of humor Claudia brought to the show, especially through her popular segment, the ‘Claudatorium’.

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman have decided to leave Strictly Come Dancing after the 2026 season, feeling it’s the right moment for them to step down.

The pair announced on Instagram that they’ve enjoyed performing together and called hosting ‘Strictly’ a wonderful experience.

“We were always going to leave together and now feels like the right time.

We’re incredibly grateful for the chance to finish this wonderful series. We want to sincerely thank the BBC and everyone who worked on the show – they’re a truly fantastic team, and we’ll miss working with them immensely.

It’ll be sad to say ‘keep dancing’ for the last time, but we’ll still encourage each other. Maybe someday, we’ll be doing it from the comfort of our homes, wearing comfy clothes and enjoying some pizza.

Absolutely! It’s a cherished tradition that’s been passed down in our family for generations. It means a lot to all of us, including the children.

Phoebe and Amber are really going to miss this, but thankfully it’s not disappearing completely. We’ll still be able to watch and stay connected to it.

After the show, we’ll be at the Star Bar, still having a great time – it really is the best show on British television.
