Devora Wilde, the actress known for playing Lae’zel in the popular game Baldur’s Gate 3, has discussed the possibility of reprising her famous role.
Wilde recently joined us for an interview as part of our Arcade Hang series, and you can watch our Baldur’s Gate 3 discussion in the video player here (or on the TopMob Gaming YouTube channel).
Although Dungeons & Dragons is generally set in a world reminiscent of the past, conversations quickly shifted to what might happen in the future.
Okay, so everyone keeps saying Anya Taylor-Joy looks just like Lae’zel from Baldur’s Gate 3, and honestly, it’s kinda wild. Knowing how many people want a live-action BG3 show, doesn’t that make her a perfect fit for the role? I mean, it’s practically begging to happen!
He just laughed when I asked about him playing the role! He was totally up for it, saying it would be amazing and really good for his career. He even joked about needing some prosthetics, but said he’d be happy to use them if it meant he could take on the part. I was so excited to hear him say that!

She could have whatever treatment Walton Goggins gets to remove his nose in Fallout?
“Yeah, absolutely,” Wilde concurred. “I think they could do it.”
And then, she added, looking right down the lens of the camera: “Do it. Do it, please.
“Yeah, that would be amazing. That would be taking the dream to another level.”
Beyond movies and TV shows, the company behind Dungeons & Dragons, Wizards of the Coast, has confirmed they plan to create another Baldur’s Gate video game at some point in the future.

As Wilde pointed out, it might take quite a while – possibly years – considering the massive scale of the original Baldur’s Gate game.
Despite her reservations, she admitted the idea was exciting. Plus, considering how often Lae’zel lives through the game’s various endings, she’s likely to be back for another installment.
“Yeah. I think I’m fine,” Wilde said. “I’d be just happy to be involved.
Playing Lae’zel again would feel strange, honestly. Now that people know and enjoy the game and its characters, there’d be a lot more pressure and expectation.

Wilde also suggests it would be interesting to learn more about Lae’zel’s backstory – what she was up to before the events of Baldur’s Gate 3, perhaps even in a prequel game.
I’ve been thinking about this character, and it’s hinted at, but she’s basically the only one who feels like a total outsider – like she’s dropped onto a planet completely unlike anything she’s ever known. Honestly, I think that’s a really interesting angle they’re taking with her story!
Considering how incredibly successful Baldur’s Gate 3 has been with critics, players, and at awards shows, it’s clear many people, like Wilde, would agree that’s a great concept.
We’ll let you know if we get any updates about what’s next for Baldur’s Gate. In the meantime, be sure to read the rest of our interview, where we discuss how writing the script for Baldur’s Gate 3 was particularly challenging for Wilde!
