The retro 8-bit basketball game, Basketball Classics, is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch for $9.99. Acclaim, the publisher, and Namco Gamo, the developer, are offering a 10% discount for a limited time at launch.
I first got my hands on Basketball Classics way back in March 2018 when it launched as an Early Access game on Steam. It was pretty rough around the edges, but you could already see the potential! It finally got a full release in December 2019, which was a huge improvement. Now, if you’re on PC, you can even grab it from the Microsoft Store, which is awesome because it’s more accessible.
David Pilkington, co-founder of Namo Gamo, announced that their long-held dream is coming true with the release of Basketball Classics on consoles around the world. The game has been in development for nearly ten years, and they expressed gratitude to Acclaim for helping them achieve this milestone. They also hinted at plans for a follow-up game, Super Basketball Classics.
Here is an overview of the game, via Acclaim:
