The new DC Universe has several exciting projects in development, like shows centered around Supergirl, Lanterns, and Clayface. One project that’s been changing a lot is a Batman movie called Batman: The Brave and the Bold. This film will feature Batman alongside Damian Wayne as Robin, and explore the relationships within the Wayne family, similar to the comic books. The film now has a confirmed screenwriter, but the choice might not please all DC fans.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, DC has selected Christina Hodson (known for her work on Birds of Prey and The Flash) to write The Brave and the Bold. While DC hasn’t officially announced this, sources say Hodson began working on the project last autumn. However, it will likely be a while before a final draft is ready, as the studio is proceeding carefully with its development.
Why Some Fans Won’t Be Thrilled With Brave and the Bold’s New Creative Team

Hodson previously contributed to the enjoyable film Bumblebee, and she also worked on a Batman Beyond movie that unfortunately wasn’t released. So, the concern about her joining Batman: The Brave and the Bold stems from the fact that she’d be collaborating with director Andy Muschietti. Their last project together, The Flash, wasn’t a commercial success, and that’s raising some eyebrows.
Despite a troubled release, the movie The Flash didn’t quite live up to expectations, particularly considering all the excitement surrounding it. This makes it hard not to question the decision to have the same filmmakers lead the introduction of Batman and Robin in the new DC Universe, and those concerns are perfectly reasonable.
Despite the challenges with The Flash, the team behind it also created successful films like Bumblebee, Birds of Prey, and IT: Welcome to Derry. Knowing this, and considering James Gunn and Peter Safran are now in charge of the DC Universe, it’s unlikely they’ll let a major character like Batman completely fail. The project might be delayed if they’re not satisfied with how it’s going, but hopefully, we’re moving closer to finally seeing a proper Dark Knight in the new DCU – something fans have been eager to see for a long time.
DC’s next project is Supergirl, which hits theaters on June 26, 2026.
