The upcoming game, Battlefield 6, offers a unique skin for PS5 players, sparking debate among gamers. For years, certain game franchises like Call of Duty have provided exclusive content to specific platforms due to marketing agreements. Originally, this was more common on Xbox, but later shifted towards PlayStation. However, Call of Duty stopped offering map pack DLCs and moved on to providing exclusive skins instead. Meanwhile, Xbox discontinued platform-exclusive content for the franchise. Now, it seems that PlayStation is leveraging this history by offering exclusive content for Battlefield 6 on their platform.
When you try out the Battlefield 6 beta on PS5, you’ll find out that there’s an exclusive in-game skin waiting for you once the game officially launches, without any additional costs or challenges to complete. Just enjoy playing the beta on your PS5, and the skin will be yours when the game is released. Historically, these exclusive skins are only available for around a year; thus, they might become accessible to Xbox and PC users in October 2026, though this is just an assumption. The design of the skin looks impressive, making it a popular choice among PlayStation gamers upon release.

In the Battlefield 6 beta, there are alternative skins up for grabs for all players. If you’re a Twitch user, simply tuning into Battlefield 6 streams for a total of 4 hours grants you an hourly in-game reward through Twitch Drops – no active participation is required, just keep the chat window open and set to mute. I started a Twitch stream this morning with audio at 1%, returned in the afternoon to find that all the Twitch rewards for the game had been earned. Furthermore, both weekends of the Battlefield 6 beta will present challenges, completing which will reward players with skins and other in-game goodies.
In recent times, there’s been a significant amount of debate regarding character skins in shooting games. Interestingly, Call of Duty seems to be following Fortnite’s lead, which has left some players seeking a more realistic gaming experience feeling frustrated. I had a chat with two producers from DICE about their strategy for skins in Battlefield 6 and they emphasized that they would strive for a more grounded, authentic appearance that aligns with the overall gritty theme of the game they’re developing. However, it’s worth noting that plans could shift as development progresses, but at present, it seems they’re aiming for this approach.
Battlefield 6 will launch on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC on October 10th.
