The next season for Battlefield 6 will launch on February 17th, following some extra development time to refine the game and address player feedback. We’ll get a full look at the new gameplay on February 12th, but Battlefield Studios has already shared an introductory cinematic and details about one of the upcoming maps.
Basically, the Pax Armata has taken over an old NATO base, and now NATO is launching a military operation to reclaim it. The battlefield appears quite large, featuring both air battles and tank warfare. What really stands out, though, is the widespread presence of a dangerous smoke that forces everyone to wear gas masks.
We’re still figuring out exactly how this new feature works, but it was tested in Battlefield Labs (under the code name “Contaminated”) before being released. We’ll share more details later this week, but you can expect new weapons, attachments, and other improvements.
That’s just for the initial part of Season 2. The developers have also announced that the popular Battlefield 4 map, Golmud Railway, will be added later on.
Battlefield 6 is playable on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. While the number of players decreased after it launched, it was the top-selling game in the US last year and a major win for Electronic Arts.
