Battlefield: RedSec is Free-to-Play – Battle Royale Confirmed for October 28th Launch

It’s no surprise, but the battle royale mode for Battlefield 6, called RedSec (short for Redacted Sector), is launching tomorrow at 8 PM Pacific Time. The official Battlefield Twitter account shared a brief message – “Eyes up. Plates on.” – but a more detailed reveal is expected when Season 1 begins tomorrow.

The battle royale mode, which first appeared in Battlefield 5 as Firestorm, has been available for testing through Battlefield Labs since September. It takes place on a unique map separate from the standard multiplayer maps, and features 25 teams of four players battling it out, with the same level of environmental destruction as the main game.

The most dangerous aspect is the shrinking play area – it will instantly eliminate you if you’re caught within it. Unlike games like Fortnite or Apex Legends, you can’t repeatedly enter and exit the safe zone.

It’s still unclear if this will be included in the latest RedSec update. You can find more information about Battlefield 6 Season 1 – including the new Blackwell Fields map and Strikepoint mode, launching tomorrow – here. We also have a review of the original game available here.
