BBC Studios has launched the first-ever streaming platform designed specifically for airlines.
BBC Player, created in partnership with Panasonic Avionics, will offer passengers access to BBC Studios’ programs during flights.
This new streaming service is the first of its kind, offering fully licensed content designed specifically for use on airlines.
The service will offer a wide range of popular BBC shows and programs, with content from sources like BBC Earth, BBC News, BritBox, BBC Kids, and CBeebies.
This change is part of the BBC’s plan to earn more money through commercial activities, as income from TV licenses is decreasing.
BBC Player will launch later this year.

According to Zina Neophytou, a senior vice president at BBC Studios, the upcoming launch of BBC Player on Panasonic’s systems is expected to significantly change the way passengers enjoy entertainment on flights.
BBC Studios is leading the way in in-flight entertainment by offering a new, high-quality streaming service for air travelers. It’s the first studio to provide a platform with all the necessary rights and permissions, allowing passengers to enjoy content on any flight.
Passengers will have access to a constantly updated collection of top stories from the BBC, making their flights more enjoyable with a familiar, reliable, and well-loved service.
