The anime series “Beastars” is set to say goodbye on Netflix in 2026 with its final episodes. With the culprit behind the mysterious murder now unmasked, life remains complicated for Legosi and Haru as they continue to face societal disapproval of their relationship. The anime has been trying to keep up with the original manga, which concluded its story in 2020. Although creator Paru Itagaki has launched a spin-off series, an official follow-up to the main franchise has not yet been announced. However, that doesn’t rule out the possibility of her revisiting the popular series in the future.
More recently, Paru joined her father, Keisuke Itagaki, in a joint discussion about their respective anime productions on stage. Notably, Keisuke is recognized for creating the popular series “Baki The Grappler“, which has also gained significant traction on Netflix as it gears up for its comeback next year. During this conversation, Paru hinted at a possible sequel for “Beastars” and expressed her gratitude towards the fans who are eagerly waiting for more content. She mentioned, “It’s been some time since ‘Beastars‘ concluded, but there are numerous supporters yearning for a sequel or spin-off. I am truly thankful for this. The world of ‘Beastars‘ feels like my home, and I can always draw it whenever I wish. So, if you’re patiently waiting, a new tale will emerge. In the meantime, stay healthy and keep pushing forward.
Baki x Legosi
It’s no wonder that Keisuke feels proud of his daughter, who is a manga artist, as he stood beside Paru during the event in Japan, where she donned her signature “chicken mask.” The creator of Baki publicly commended his daughter’s talent and asserted that the character of Legosi would ensure Paru’s success for years to come. He even expressed his belief that Paru is a genius, stating that he knew she would excel in creative pursuits from an early age, as evidenced by her school essays.
In addition to talking about Beastars, Paru also shared some insights about the upcoming anime episodes that haven’t been released yet. “I’ve noticed many comments about the show on social media from people around the globe, and it’s clear that our anime is touching hearts worldwide,” she said. “I’m truly thankful for this global connection. I have full faith in Director Matsumi Shinichi’s ability to deliver a stunning finale. Rest assured, there’s nothing to worry about.
The topic of discussion at the recent event wasn’t limited to Beastars alone; Keisuke Itagaki also discussed the impending return of his franchise’s anime adaptation, Baki-Dou. With legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi joining the narrative, the upcoming phase of Baki Hanma’s life promises to be momentous. As Itagaki explains, “In Japan, the story of Miyamoto Musashi is based on a novel by Yoshikawa Eiji and presents him as a quest for truth. However, I want audiences to appreciate the contrast between that portrayal and my interpretation, which I believe shows a more human side of Musashi. Indeed, this will be a faithful representation.
