Bella Thorne Returns to her Disney Roots With Red Hair Transformation

Bella Thorne’s new look will have you texting your friends TTYLXOX.

The former Disney star recently changed her hair back to its famous red curls, reminding fans of her look on the show Shake It Up after previously having dark brown hair.

The 28-year-old connected her new hairstyle to her Disney past, referencing the movie Brave, which features a red-haired princess. She playfully captioned a series of selfies posted on May 10th, “Merida vibes!”

On May 12th, Bella shared on Instagram that she was the one who dyed her own hair, and she asked her followers if they’d like to see a video of the process.

Bella, known for her role in the Disney dance series she starred in with Zendaya from 2010 to 2013, has been reminiscing about the past. She recently looked back at different periods of her life, particularly focusing on the times when she had red hair.

In a video posted on April 14th, the actress from Midnight Sun reminisced about the beginning of Shake It Up, sharing a photo of her very first Disney headshot taken when she was twelve. She described her younger self as innocent and naive, noting she hadn’t experienced much of life yet and had no idea what the future held.

However, she confessed to something her younger self had already realized—and then showed a photo of herself from a few years prior.

Oh my gosh, she said it! Bella, even when she had brunette hair, admitted this red hair is the best! She was talking about how amazing it looked with her skin tone, and I totally agree! It’s just… perfect. I’ve been screenshotting this moment for years because it’s the truth! Red Bella is the ultimate Bella, honestly.

Bella’s current style is inspired by her past, but she’s even more thrilled about what’s happening now. She and her fiancé, Mark Emms, got engaged in 2023, and she recently shared with TopMob News that they’re taking their time planning the wedding after meeting in 2022.

She described their new movie as a passion project, something they created together – she wrote and directed it. She said she expects to finish the film – including editing and promotion – before starting work on Spring Breakers.

Bella promised a wedding would happen soon after the follow-up to the famous 2012 movie is finished. She explained that they’ll be able to focus on planning properly once the film is complete, saying, “Then we’ll have the mental energy to think and really do it right.”
