A new rumor suggests that Owen Wilson, who played Mobius in the Disney+ series Loki, will be joining the cast of the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. While Tom Hiddleston’s Loki was previously confirmed for the movie, Wilson wasn’t included in the initial cast announcement back in March 2025.
Owen Wilson’s Mobius rumored to be in Avengers: Doomsday
According to a new report, Owen Wilson might reprise his role as Mobius in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie. The information comes from Daniel Richtman, who posted it to his Patreon page. If the rumor is accurate, this would be the first time the character appears in a theatrical film.
In the final episode of Loki Season 2, Mobius left his job at the Time Variance Authority and moved to Ohio. He decided to experience a normal life by observing a version of himself – Don – and Don’s two sons, allowing time to unfold naturally and learning what it means to have a family.
There were rumors that Mobius would appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, but he didn’t make the final cut, despite the Time Variance Authority (TVA) being a key part of the movie. Instead, the film featured Mr. Paradox, played by Matthew Macfadyen, as the TVA agent who poses a threat to Deadpool’s reality. According to Richtman, the initial rumors about Mobius stemmed from early concept art. His appearance in Doomsday, however, was confirmed by footage of Ryan Reynolds (Wilson) filming scenes.
I’m really hoping we’ll see Mobius in Avengers: Doomsday, but it’s still just a rumor right now. What makes me think it could happen is seeing Loki in the movie – he’s so connected to the TVA, and that feels like a hint that Mobius might show up too!
The new Avengers movie, titled Doomsday, will hit theaters on December 18, 2026. It was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who worked from a script written by Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron. The Russo brothers also produced the film alongside Marvel Studios through their company, AGBO.
I’m so excited about the cast for Doomsday! They’ve got everyone – Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Florence Pugh, Simu Liu, Pedro Pascal, Channing Tatum, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and even Robert Downey Jr.! It’s seriously stacked with amazing actors.
