I’m so excited Damien Molony is back filming Bergerac in Jersey! He told TopMob that while he’s enjoying that, he’d jump at the chance to go back and film more episodes of Brassic in the Yorkshire Dales if they asked him. It’s great to hear he loves both shows!
The Irish actor played Dylan, the best friend of Vinnie (played by Joe Gilgun), in the first four seasons of the Sky One series. His character was later kidnapped and killed off during the show.
Brassic continued for three additional seasons, and Dylan was frequently referenced by other characters. Actor Joe Molony has expressed interest in returning to the show if a suitable storyline allowed for his character’s reappearance.
Being part of Brassic was fantastic. It didn’t feel like a job at all, really – it was just like spending time with friends,” he explained.
We had so much fun on that show, we were constantly laughing. I really enjoyed my time working on it, and I actually thought being killed off was a perfect way for my character to have its ending. However, I always felt there was potential for Joe’s character to have flashbacks, showing memories he shared with mine.

The actor suggested a way his character could reappear on the show: a flashback scene of the whole group going for a swim in a river with a waterfall. He said Joe Gilgun came up with the idea, and he’d love to revisit the dynamic with the cast, as they had a lot of fun and laughter during the four seasons they worked together.
Molony shared that he and Gilgun talked about maybe making another season of Brassic.
According to Molony, Joe had often considered making a sequel. He envisioned a film where the group travels to Turkey so he could get a hair transplant. Molony thought this idea was fantastic and said he’d definitely watch it, even if he wasn’t involved.
Brassic isn’t currently being planned for a comeback. Joe Gilgun, the star and co-creator, is focusing on his art, and Danny Brocklehurst, who also co-created and wrote the show, is busy filming a new series called The Driver. Meanwhile, actor Steve Molony has found success playing widowed detective Jim Bergerac in the reboot of the 1980s series Bergerac on UKTV.
The second season welcomes Adrian Edmondson and Lesley Sharp as guest stars. Molony praises them as exceptionally talented actors.

Sharp plays a woman connected to the murder Jim is investigating. Edmondson plays the new boyfriend of Jim’s mother-in-law, Charlie (played by Zoe Wanamaker).
Molony explained that Adrian’s character is charming and endearing, creating a great contrast with Zoe’s Charlie, who is reserved and focused on appearances. The dynamic between these two very different personalities was particularly engaging to watch.
Adrian played such a compelling villain in ‘Alien: Earth,’ so seeing him as the genuinely kind and sweet character he is here is brilliant. It perfectly balances Charlie Hungerford’s more intense personality. The casting, writing, and acting are all top-notch. And Lesley is so warm and motherly. I’ve enjoyed both of their work on other shows, so collaborating with them was a real treat.
Bergerac season 2 is available to watch now on U&DRAMA.
