After Kentaro Miura’s unfortunate death, there was much discussion among fans of Berserk as to whether his manga would conclude the storylines involving Guts, Griffith, and Casca or if they would be left incomplete. After several months of deliberation, Miura’s closest associates decided to honor his memory by completing the narrative of the Band of the Hawk. Writer Kouji Mori and the artists at Studio Gaga have been hard at work creating new chapters for the manga, and recently, Mori shared insights about the upcoming release. Needless to say, it’s not an easy feat to continue in the footsteps left by Miura.
Sharing his thoughts on social media, Mori talked about the latest volume (43rd) of the Berserk manga and the difficulties he faces while continuing the series. “The stunning cover artwork is once again by Gaga, as always it’s a masterpiece! I’m pushing through my anxiety due to your incredible support. These chapters and the ones in the next volume were particularly tough for Miura, just like ‘The Eclipse.’ They were challenging indeed, but since they have been debated for years, I think the dialogues and scenes are very well represented. Let’s hope you enjoy it!” Check out Mori’s post and the manga cover below.
I find it truly remarkable, watching you all work tirelessly under duress. Thanks to your efforts, we’re making progress somehow. The chapters in this volume and the next are particularly challenging for Sanada, as they remind him of ‘The Rot’, causing him great distress. Yet, it’s precisely that struggle…

The Struggles of Guts
In recent chapters, what difficulties has the character known as the Black Swordsman encountered? Despite the heroes gaining some powerful new friends within the Kushan Empire, there seems to be a problem with Guts among their ranks. Recognizing the brand on his neck, the elite of the Kushan perceive him as too great a risk to their people and exile him to a hidden cave. Unfortunately, due to personal struggles stemming from his inability to save Casca from Griffith’s control, the Black Swordsman is not yet ready to face this challenge head-on.
Up until now, I can’t say what dangers may lurk within this enigmatic cave for our weary hero, Guts. The bearer of the Dragon Slayer has found it challenging to speak after the devastation of Elfhelm, and his trusty sword remained unsheathed during the siege of the Eastern Nation. Here’s hoping that whatever awaits him within the confines of this cave manages to rouse him from his melancholy and spurs him back into the fray.
For those inquiring about when the next chapter of Berserk will surface, it won’t be much longer before the Band of the Hawk reappears! The confirmation is out for Chapter 383 to drop in Young Animal on September 12th, so we’re just a few weeks away from uncovering the upcoming adventures of Guts. Regrettably, there hasn’t been any news about the anime side yet; we still don’t know when or if a new Berserk television series or film will be produced. With numerous manga chapters still unexplored in animation, there’s a wealth of ground to cover.
