Many people consider Steven Spielberg’s Jaws to be the first true Hollywood blockbuster, and remarkably, the acclaimed director is still making movies more than 50 years later.
I’m really excited about his new movie, Disclosure Day! It’s been years since he explored UFOs with films like Close Encounters of the Third Kind and ET, and this one feels like a major event as we kick off the summer blockbuster season. It’s definitely the movie I’m most looking forward to this June.
Pixar is making a fifth Toy Story movie, bringing back beloved characters like Woody and Buzz Lightyear! Plus, Nicholas Galitzine will star in a new Masters of the Universe film.
If you’re looking for laugh-out-loud comedy, new movies in the Scary Movie and Jackass series are out now. Jackass is promising its last ever film, so this is your final chance to see Johnny Knoxville and the crew perform their wild stunts and pranks.
Alongside the major blockbusters, many smaller, independent films are also gaining attention. Sophy Romvari’s personal film, Blue Heron, has received high praise at film festivals, and Jodie Foster stars in the intriguing French thriller, A Private Life.
We’ve chosen some of the best movies to watch this month to help you decide what to see. You can watch our recommendations in the video above, or keep reading to see our picks.

Scary Movie

Release date: Friday 5 June in cinemas
Okay, so the Wayans family is back to hilariously poke fun at all the scary movies that have come out lately. This is the first ‘Scary Movie’ we’ve gotten in a long time – since 2013, actually – and it’s the sixth installment in the whole series. As a fan, I was eager to see if they still had the comedic chops, and thankfully, they largely deliver!
Anna Faris and Regina Hall are back for the new movie, and it will poke fun at recent films like The Substance, Weapons, Longlegs, M3GAN, Sinners, Heretic, Smile, and the Terrifier series.

A year after the first film in James Gunn’s new DC Universe introduced Superman, the spotlight now turns to Supergirl, played by Milly Alcock. This movie follows her on a galaxy-spanning, revenge-fueled journey.

This hilarious movie is the fifth and last in the popular Jackass series, bringing back Johnny Knoxville and the crew for another round of wild stunts and over-the-top pranks.
