A Bethesda game is currently available to download for free, but the offer ends in about 48 hours, around December 17th. This action-RPG, released in 2018, received a mixed reception when it first came out. While it struggled at launch, Bethesda has significantly improved the game with updates and new content, making it quite popular now, in 2025. The game is still being supported, so it’s a good time to give it a try!
You can currently get Fallout 76 for free on PC if you have an Amazon Prime subscription. This game, released in 2018, has been offered for free several times before, including through PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass – and it’s still available with some Xbox Game Pass plans. While it was previously free for both PC and Xbox users in 2024 via Prime Gaming, this time the offer is exclusive to PC players. Keep in mind you’ll need an active Prime membership to claim it.
About the Game
Fallout 76 is an open-world action role-playing game that takes place earlier in the Fallout timeline. It’s unique for the series because it’s designed for multiplayer, a first for both the game and its developer, Bethesda Game Studios. The game had a difficult start, reflected in its low Metacritic score (between 49 and 53). While many Fallout fans were disappointed with the direction it took, the game also received criticism for lacking content typically found in other Fallout titles, as well as suffering from performance problems and numerous bugs.
Despite a rocky start, Bethesda Game Studios consistently improved the game over the years, turning it into a surprisingly popular multiplayer title. This is particularly impressive considering its initial poor reception – it’s rare for a game with such a low score (49 on Metacritic) to remain playable for seven years and beyond. The lack of a new Fallout game in the meantime has likely helped, and Bethesda is currently working on multiple projects for the series.
