The final eviction notice was handed out and Big Brother UK has crowned a new winner.
Richard Storry, a composer and author from South London, was crowned the winner of season 22 of the popular reality show on ITV, following a dramatic final episode on November 14th.
At 60 years old, he became the oldest person to win Big Brother UK, defeating Elsa Rae and Jenny Baird. Because there wasn’t a large bonus prize awarded during the season, he’ll receive the full £100,000 prize (about $131,600 USD).
As Richard left the Big Brother house, he said, “It’s been a real pleasure! Good night, and thank you to everyone!”
Beyond Richard’s historic win, this season also saw romance blossom among the housemates. Elsa, who finished as the runner-up, began a relationship with Marcus John, and he even shared his feelings for her on the show.
“Everything is going really well with Elsa,” the 22-year-old shared on the November 9th show. “I think she feels how much I care about her. I hesitated to say it, but that’s how I feel—that’s where I’m at right now.”
Throughout the show, Marcus playfully called Elsa both his “best friend” and his “future wife,” often switching between the two terms.
He said, “No matter what our relationship is… it’s complicated right now. I’m planning to ask Elsa out on a date, and I eventually want to be with her forever, so it’s pretty obvious where I see this going.”
After leaving the house, Marcus—who finished eighth on the show—shared some of the many date ideas he and Elsa brainstormed while they were competing.
He revealed they’ve been making plans for dates, including trips to the zoo and the cinema – she especially loves going to the movies. He shared this in a TikTok interview on Nov. 13, adding that they’ve had plenty of time to discuss their future together.
He also enthusiastically shared his feelings for Elsa, saying she’s beautiful both inside and out and that he was excited to see her the next day.
