David E. Kelley, the creator of Big Little Lies, has shared an update on season 3, including when they’re aiming to begin filming.
I was hearing about this new movie a producer is working on, called Margo’s Got Money Troubles. It’s a really interesting story – it centers around Margo, a young mom played by Elle Fanning, who starts an account on an adult website just to be able to afford childcare. It sounds like a tough situation, and I’m curious to see how they handle it.
In the Apple TV series, Nicole Kidman—a frequent collaborator with the show’s creator—plays a lawyer (who used to be a wrestler). She steps in to help Margo when she gets into a difficult disagreement with the baby’s father, who isn’t involved in their child’s life.
Now that Liane Moriarty is releasing a follow-up to her popular novel Big Little Lies this summer, TopMob inquired with Kelley about the progress of a potential new television adaptation featuring Kidman.
We’re really in the early stages right now, but things are moving! We’re putting together the writing team and finalizing all the business agreements. It’s a lot of work at this point, but we’re aiming to launch everything by the end of the year, and I’m so excited about it!
David Kelley, speaking about his latest project with Nicole Kidman – following their successful work on ‘Big Little Lies’ and ‘The Undoing’ – explained that the character’s unique personality easily kept the story interesting and new.
He explained that she was playing a character who was both a wrestler and a lawyer – a role they hadn’t explored before. He was surprised she didn’t laugh when he suggested it, but she was actually really excited to take on the part.

Kelley explained that she’s a really adventurous and fearless performer. Because our time working with her was short due to other commitments, we wanted to make sure we fully utilized her comedic and dramatic talents.
I designed this character to immediately grab the audience’s attention and create a strong emotional connection by the end of their arc. My process always begins with the character – I write what I believe best serves the story, and then I collaborate with the actor to ensure they understand and connect with the role.
Eva Anderson, the show’s executive producer, revealed that Nicole Kidman agreed to join ‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’ only if she was allowed to participate in actual wrestling.
