Hark! A pronouncement from Master Tom Lee of Fundstrat Global Advisors – a gentleman of, shall we say, calculation – that the fortunes of Bitcoin and its brethren do not, alas, reflect the supposed improvements within their peculiar realm. A most disconcerting observation, wouldn’t you agree?
He doth lament, in a recent discourse upon CNBC’s Power Lunch (a rather ambitious name, considering the state of affairs!), that this digital domain yet suffers from a grievous affliction, a “deleveraging event” which transpired on the tenth of October. It appears a most unfortunate occurrence which had “crippled many key players”, including those who exchange these phantom coins and peddle them about. A veritable catastrophe!
The source of this wretchedness? Why, ’tis none other than the pronouncements of that most… decisive President Trump, who threatened to impose tariffs upon the wares of China, particularly those rare, earthly metals. A fit of pique, one might suggest, though likely with considerable economic consequence.
“Thus the industry limps along,” quoth Master Lee, “though its ‘fundamentals’ have, purportedly, improved. And Davos, it would seem, hath emboldened Wall Street to view these ‘blockchains’ and ‘tokenization’ as merely twigs upon the noble tree of traditional finance – a rather humbling notion, is it not?” – A convergence, he calls it! As if digital vapor can truly mingle with solid gold.
Yet, despite these boastings of progress, Master Lee doth despair! For the allure of those old-fashioned precious metals – gold and silver – hath “sucked the very air from the room,” leaving our digital savior gasping for attention. How droll!
’Tis explained that those who trade on borrowed fortunes, those gamblers utilizing margin and options, now favor these shiny objects. They allocate their funds to the tangible, the tried and true, leaving our poor Bitcoin in the dust! A most ignominious fate, indeed.
However, a glimmer of hope! Master Lee doth recall, with a knowing wink, that historically, when gold and silver tire of their ascent, Bitcoin and Ethereum are wont to experience a sudden, unexpected bloom. A fleeting moment of glory before the inevitable descent, perhaps?
