Black Noir Plot Hole Leaves The Boys Fans Outraged After Major Supe Twist

Now that the fifth and final season of The Boys is streaming on Prime Video, viewers have been bracing themselves for both shocking moments and emotional losses. The show’s creators and actors warned fans to expect surprises, including characters dying. That warning has proven accurate, with Season 5 featuring significant character deaths each week – so far, we’ve seen A-Train, Adam Bourke, and Firecracker meet their end. This week continued that pattern, and fans are understandably upset. Be warned: spoilers for Season 5 of The Boys are ahead.

Throughout the fifth season of The Boys, a major conflict has been brewing between The Deep and Black Noir II. What started as a seemingly amicable relationship deteriorated as The Deep desperately tried to win Homelander’s approval. Last week, The Deep discovered that Black Noir was involved in a plot orchestrated by Adam Bourke – specifically, sending an eel through the sewers to harm him. This week, their tension finally exploded into a fight, which The Deep won, ultimately killing Black Noir II. Many fans, however, were disappointed by this outcome.

Black Noir’s Death Has The Boys Fans Calling Foul

Recently on The Boys, The Deep has become fixated on Black Noir II, largely because Black Noir II is desperate to avoid being killed by Homelander. Last week, the group decided to stage a fake faith healing, where Homelander would pretend to give Black Noir II the powers of flight and speech – despite The Deep’s objections. Interestingly, Black Noir II already has these abilities, along with considerable strength and invulnerability, all of which have been clearly shown throughout the series.

This week on ‘The Boys,’ tensions between The Deep and Black Noir II boil over in a violent confrontation. The Deep ambushes Black Noir II, initially choking him with cords before ultimately stabbing and killing him. While fights with super-powered individuals are frequent in the series—and often more brutal than encounters with ordinary people—fans found Black Noir II’s death by stabbing particularly jarring, considering he had previously survived multiple close-range shootings. The manner of his death felt inconsistent with previous events.

I find the way Black Noir died in ‘The Boys’ really unbelievable. It’s ridiculous that someone who survived machine gun fire and a shotgun blast was taken out by a simple knife. Seriously, what was Eric Kripke thinking?

One fan on the ‘The Boys’ subreddit pointed out that Black Noir seemed to forget he could fly during his fight with Deep. Another commenter agreed, adding that it would have been logical for Deep to finish Noir off while he was falling asleep due to his narcolepsy, considering Deep’s cowardly nature. A third user said that while Noir being choked was believable, the stabbing felt out of place.

Did Noir forgot that he can fly ? And yet the Deep still managed to overpowered him ?

It’s common for fans to argue about character powers in TV shows, but this situation in The Boys feels like a real mistake in the storyline, or at least a convenient way to move the plot forward. The show specifically showed Black Noir II flying publicly during an event with Homelander, then immediately acted as if it wasn’t possible. They’ve consistently highlighted Black Noir II’s abilities, while The Deep has always been presented as a comedic character without ever demonstrating powers that would logically allow him to defeat Black Noir II.

With just two episodes remaining, it’s uncertain whether The Boys will address a recent event. However, the show seems to be building towards a significant and likely humiliating downfall for the character The Deep. Even if that happens, though, it probably won’t satisfy fans upset by how his actions led to the death of Black Noir II.
