The launch of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was widely considered a failure, but the game’s developer, The Chinese Room, appears committed to improving the PlayStation 5 version and making it a better experience.
The role-playing game will receive its first expansion, titled Loose Cannon, on April 27, 2026. A plan for future updates and improvements for the original game has also been released.
The first of two planned expansions puts you in control of Benny Muldoon, separate from the main game’s story. You’ll experience four new quests that reveal more about Benny’s reasons for acting as he does and his connections to other characters, adding depth to the overall narrative. This expansion introduces firearms for Benny, bringing first-person shooting to the game, as well as melee weapons for close-quarters combat.
You play as Benny Muldoon, a tough Seattle sheriff in a divided city. He’s a quick-tempered man who believes in solving problems with force, using both his gun and his fists to deliver his own brand of justice. The question is, who put him in charge, and what makes them think they can control him?
The main game will receive an update on April 27th, coinciding with the DLC release. This update includes improvements to saving, melee combat, and other features. A future summer update is planned with exciting additions like a Photo Mode, a Noir Mode, and enhancements to ranged combat.
Our review of Bloodlines 2 on PS5 called it a deeply flawed sequel, giving it a score of 4 out of 10. We found that while it had some good moments, they were quickly overshadowed by a lack of meaningful RPG features, excessive filler, and numerous technical problems. Ultimately, we felt the game failed to live up to its initial potential and was a disappointing experience.
