I’ve been following the news about Blue Eye Samurai, and it’s exciting to hear they’re already working on Season 2! The anime first arrived on Netflix in 2023 and quickly grabbed my attention with its unique visuals and compelling storyline. Honestly, it wasn’t a shock that Netflix decided to renew it – it’s a really special show, and I’m eager to find out what’s next. They’ve announced when we’ll get a bigger update about the new episodes soon.
Netflix will be previewing its animated series Blue Eye Samurai at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival this June. They’ve announced a Season 2 update will be revealed on June 23rd, along with news about other upcoming anime titles like The One Piece, Ribbon Hero: Sparks of Tomorrow, and more. This is the first significant news about the new season in a year.
Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 Update Coming During Annecy 2026
At this year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 23rd, Netflix will highlight its anime projects with a special presentation called “Netflix Anime: Bold Stories, Boundless Worlds” at la Salle de la Volière. Attendees will get a sneak peek at upcoming shows like Season 2 of Blue Eye Samurai, as well as new titles including Bass X Machina, THE ONE PIECE, Sparks of Tomorrow, and THE RIBBON HERO. The biggest news is expected to be an update on the highly anticipated second season of Blue Eye Samurai.
Last year, the creators of Blue Eye Samurai, Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, gave fans a first look at the upcoming season and announced it would be set in London. According to Noizumi, Mizu’s core mission – her quest for revenge – will continue in Season 2. She believes at least two of her targets are hiding in London. The creators also hinted that characters previously thought to be dead might actually still be alive.
What to Know for Blue Eye Samurai Season 2

As of today, Netflix hasn’t announced when Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 will be released. However, the creators, Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, are back to work on it, with animation handled by Blue Spirit. The first season won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program, beating out many other popular shows, so expectations are high for the next installment. If you haven’t already, you can watch Season 1 on Netflix.
Season 2 of Blue Eye Samurai will follow Mizu as she continues her violent journey, now in London, where she’ll encounter both allies and enemies, and confront her inner struggles. Back in Japan, Akemi and Taigen must deal with a powerful new Shogun while navigating the politics of Edo Castle, and Ringo will be searching for a new direction in life.
