The following article contains spoilers for Euphoria season 3.
Despite a very rocky beginning, things might be improving for Euphoria season 3. The HBO show’s third season, which premiered on April 12, 2026, after a long wait following season 2, initially received poor reviews. Currently, it has a low 40% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, earning it a “Rotten” designation.
The show, once a dark and compelling story about growing up, felt different in its third season. A five-year leap forward meant the characters were no longer teenagers, and without the shared experience of high school, the connection that made Euphoria special largely disappeared.
Episode 3, “The Ballad of Paladin,” was so good because it brought all the characters together. Unlike a dramatic, violent showdown, the episode focused on Nate and Cassie’s wedding, letting everyone share the same space – even if some weren’t happy about it. It was satisfying to see them all together in one place.
Last week’s episode, “Kitty Likes to Dance,” felt like a real turning point. Cassie decides to leave her unhappy life with her husband and move to Los Angeles, hoping to rebuild her career and pay off their debts. This move conveniently puts Cassie, Maddy, Lexi, Jules, and Rue all in the same location – a development that sets the stage perfectly for season three of Euphoria.
Euphoria Season 3 Finally Has The Main Characters Back Together
Despite a controversial and intense scene in episode 4, “Kitty Likes to Dance” also delivered one of the season’s highlights. The episode featured a funny and chaotic moment at Lexi’s apartment where Maddy helps Cassie with a photoshoot using a broken leaf blower. Elsewhere in the scene, the youngest Howard sister voices her frustration with how everyone’s life is going, and Rue unexpectedly asks Maddy for drugs. This sequence is memorable because it shows that, despite everything, these characters haven’t really changed since high school.
The show clearly demonstrates how much unresolved conflict exists between the characters. Maddy is a standout in the upcoming season of Euphoria because of her impressive self-reliance and success. Although she’s a supportive manager to Cassie, it’s suggested she’s secretly motivated by a desire for payback. Currently, Maddy has Cassie in a vulnerable position – financially unstable, needing help, and completely reliant on her.
Lexi isn’t happy that Cassie moved to Los Angeles. She believed she’d finally escaped Cassie’s influence after writing a brutally honest play about their difficult relationship. But now, Cassie has moved into the same building as Lexi, and it’s starting to feel like the old days. Combined with problems at work, Lexi is reaching her breaking point, and a dramatic outburst might be just what the next season needs.
Even though Lexi is generally the most reserved character on the show, she unexpectedly became involved in a scandal with Jules. In the episode “Kitty Likes to Dance,” Lexi hires Jules to create a painting for her work, but Jules delivers a provocative parody of a famous artwork – a version of Georges Seurat’s “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte” covered in penises. The painting is completely inappropriate for television and gets Lexi in trouble with her boss, potentially causing significant problems in upcoming episodes.
Zendaya’s performance in Euphoria season 3 is receiving Emmy buzz, but Rue’s story arc has unfortunately distanced her from her friends. A new trailer for episode 5 hints at a rekindled connection between Rue and Jules, which upsets Jules’s benefactor, Ellis. This classic Euphoria drama is what fans have been waiting for, and it seems season 3 is finally providing it.
Nate Needs To Be In LA For Season 3 To Work
Everyone else is navigating complicated lives in Hollywood, but Nate Jacobs stands out. He’s dealing with a million-dollar mess of his own back in the suburbs. His expensive lifestyle has cost him dearly – he’s lost a lot of money, his marriage, his reputation, and nearly lost a finger in the process.
| Euphoria Main Characters’ Jobs in Season 3 | |
|---|---|
| Rue Bennett | Troubleshooter/fixer at the Silver Slipper |
| Jules Vaughn | Sugar baby |
| Nate Jacobs | Real estate developer |
| Cassie Jacobs | OnlyFans content creator |
| Maddy Perez | Talent manager |
| Lexi Howard | Production assistant |
While it’s arguably fitting that Nate is facing consequences in Euphoria season 3, it’s not very compelling to watch. Viewers aren’t interested in seeing him ruined by legal issues or bureaucracy; they want to see Maddy, Jules, and Cassie get their well-deserved revenge and take him down themselves.
Nate needs to go to Los Angeles to be with the other women, but it doesn’t seem like that will happen anytime soon. The latest preview shows Naz’s crew returning to Nate’s house, likely to attack him again. This could be the push Nate needs to finally leave and join his wife in LA, even though Lexi wouldn’t be happy about it. Ultimately, this could be what Euphoria season 3 needs to get back on track.
