With Bookish set to come back to U&Alibi this summer, a new trailer has been released, giving fans a sneak peek at the mysteries Gabriel Book will be solving this season.
The show is returning for a new six-episode season with Mark Gatiss – who created and stars in the series – reprising his role. His character will investigate three fresh mysteries set in London in 1946.
I’m excited to see Polly Walker back as Trottie Book, and it’s great that Connor Finch is returning as Jack Blunt too! I also spotted Elliot Levey as Inspector Bliss in the trailer, along with Blake Harrison as Sergeant Morris and Buket Kömür as Nora – the whole cast looks fantastic.
This episode features some well-known faces, including Claire Skinner from Outnumbered, Jason Watkins of The Game, Miranda Richardson known for Good Omens, Simon Callow who starred in Doctor Who, and Rupert Graves from Sherlock.
Youssef Kerkour, known for his role in ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,’ Allan Corduner from ‘Call the Midwife,’ and Ruth Codd, who starred in ‘The Celebrity Traitors,’ will also be featured.
Check out the thrilling trailer right here now.

Season 2 follows Book as he delves into the world of spiritualism while investigating a mysterious case. He’s helping to uncover the secrets surrounding medium Harold Sneed (played by Watkins) and a particularly puzzling séance.
Just off Savile Row, Inspector Bliss enlists Book’s help with a strange case at a men’s clothing shop. The elderly tailor, Maxie Kleinmann, insists he committed murder, but the facts don’t add up, suggesting a more complicated and disturbing situation.
Book and Jack are dispatched to the picturesque German village of Würl by a cryptic figure known only as ‘E’ (Callow). Their mission: to stop a Duchess (Richardson) from stealing something during the Christmas season. But the holiday cheer quickly disappears when Book and Jack stumble upon hidden secrets and a castle full of suspicious people, turning the festivities dangerous.
Book’s ongoing work with the police puts him in personal danger, and his marriage of convenience to his childhood friend, Trottie, is jeopardized by the charming Colonel Winters (Graves).

The new season’s episodes were penned by Mark Gatiss, Matthew Sweet, and Ian Hallard. Gatiss has hinted that this season is significantly more expansive and daring than the previous one.
Earlier this year, Gatiss shared his desire for the show to continue for many seasons, and mentioned he’s already begun writing the scripts for season three.
