I’m so excited! Gearbox just announced that the second DLC for Borderlands 4, called Legend of the Stone Demon, is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on February 26th. And if that wasn’t enough, they also said the first story pack, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, is dropping in March! Can’t wait to jump back in!
Later this month, along with the release of Bounty Pack 2, a big update to Borderlands 4 will introduce a brand-new, top-tier loot rarity called Pearlescent. This gear is even better than Legendary items and will be available to all players, no matter which downloadable content they own. Players who purchase Bounty Pack 2 will also receive exclusive Pearlescent gear.
The first Story Pack will expand the game with a brand-new region, fresh missions, and a new playable character named C4SH. We got a sneak peek at C4SH back in September, learning about his unique skills. He’s designed as a gunslinger, with hints that he might also have some necromantic powers. The preview showed off his gear, including revolvers and mysterious artifacts.
The ‘Legend of the Stone Demon’ is the second of five downloadable content packs focused on bounties planned for release after the game launched. Players can get it by purchasing the Bounty Pack Bundle, or it’s included in the Deluxe and Super Deluxe Editions of ‘Borderlands 4’. ‘Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned’ is the first of two story-driven DLCs, available to purchase separately, as part of the Vault Hunter Pack, or within the Super Deluxe Edition of the game.
Gearbox originally intended to release Borderlands 4 on the Nintendo Switch 2, but performance problems on PC caused them to delay the Switch 2 launch. They needed to fix these technical issues on other systems first. Recently, Alan Lewis, a representative from Take-Two Interactive, confirmed that work on the Switch 2 version has been put on hold.
Lewis stated that the team is still dedicated to improving the game after its release by adding new content and making optimizations. They are working closely with Nintendo and are excited to launch both ‘PGA Tour 2K25’ and ‘WWE 2K26’ on the Switch 2, with plans to bring even more games to the platform in the future.
A recent report suggests that work on bringing the game to the Nintendo Switch 2 has been temporarily halted. According to reliable sources, porting the game has been more difficult and expensive than anticipated, and the potential sales on the Switch 2 may not justify the cost and effort required.
