Don’t you forget about Judd Nelson.
While the actor from The Breakfast Club has generally kept a low profile lately, he was recently spotted on a motorcycle ride in Los Angeles.
I always notice what Mr. Nelson wears when he’s out and about, and his trip on April 13th was no exception! He had on this cool black trench coat over a gray shirt, and paired it with camo cargo pants. He looked ready for anything! Of course, he always gears up properly when he rides – backpack, helmet, and gloves were all part of the look as he got ready to hop on his motorcycle.
He’s generally avoided Hollywood, but has occasionally appeared at events recently. In 2025, the 66-year-old actor – known for his role as John Bender in the 1985 film The Breakfast Club – reunited with his costars Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy, Emilio Estévez, and Anthony Michael Hall to celebrate the movie’s 40th anniversary at several events.
During an April panel discussion, Molly shared how happy she was to have everyone together, becoming emotional as she spoke. She playfully added that it was the first time her brother, Emilio, had been able to join them, meaning they could finally retire the cardboard cutout they’d been using in his place, according to Today.com.
Emilio joked that since he’d always skipped his high school reunions, he finally decided to attend this one just for his own sake.
The 63-year-old actor, who also appeared with Rob Lowe and Demi Moore in the 1984 film St. Elmo’s Fire, said the cast’s time together felt truly meaningful.

He explained that they decided to release the film now because it was filmed in Chicago, and with the 40th anniversary approaching, the timing felt right.
How does Nelson feel about still being known for his role in the classic John Hughes film, The Breakfast Club, so many years later?

“It was amazing to ride such a quick horse,” he said to PopHorror in 2019. “You always want a movie to stay meaningful even after many years, and this film definitely has. It really shows how talented John Hughes was.”
He explained that this filmmaker was the first to portray teenagers and young adults in movies without suggesting they were somehow inferior. He pointed out that youth doesn’t diminish a person’s worth – it simply means they haven’t lived as long.
You know, looking back, I truly feel fortunate to have worked on that film. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that even after all these years, people are still watching and getting enjoyment out of it. It’s a project I’ll always cherish.

Oh my gosh, Molly Ringwald! She was the ultimate ’80s queen, you know? Like, Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink… she ruled them all! I read an interview with her from way back in ’96, and she said she looks back on those days with so much fondness. It just makes me love her even more! She really was the best.
In a 2018 essay for The New Yorker, she pointed out that some scenes in The Breakfast Club wouldn’t be acceptable by today’s standards, especially after the #MeToo movement. She initially worried her daughter might be bothered by certain parts, but she admitted she ultimately found them more disturbing herself.
Oh my gosh, the ’80s were just amazing for her! She was in The Pickup Artist with Robert Downey Jr. – can you believe it?! – and then she tackled such a mature role in For Keeps. And the ’90s? Don’t even get me started! Betsy’s Wedding was hilarious, but then she completely blew me away in The Stand miniseries – seriously, a Stephen King adaptation! And Teaching Mrs. Tingle? Iconic! I’ve seen it a million times. She was just constantly working on incredible projects, and I devoured everything she did!
Starting in 2008, Molly Ringwald began playing motherly roles on teen-focused shows. She first appeared on The Secret Life of the American Teenager as the mother of Shailene Woodley’s character. Later, she had a recurring role on Riverdale as Archie Andrews’ mom, and played the mother of Noah and Lee in the popular Kissing Booth movies.
She’s a mother to a daughter and twin boys in her personal life, and is married to Panio Gianopoulos.

Emilio Estevez first gained recognition with roles in The Outsiders and the cult favorite Repo Man. He then became known for his part in The Breakfast Club. Following those successes, he starred in St. Elmo’s Fire as Kirby, a character who is in love with a medical student played by Andie MacDowell.
In a 1985 article, New York magazine playfully called Emilio Estevez the unofficial leader (and financier, as he often paid for things) of the group known as the Brat Pack. The article followed Estevez, Judd Nelson, and Rob Lowe during a night out.
According to Joel Schumacher, the director of St. Elmo’s Fire, everyone in the cast would likely name Emilio Estevez as their best friend, saying, ‘He’s that kind of guy.’ He was also Tom Cruise‘s best man when Cruise married Mimi Rogers in 1987, showing how close their friendship was during the filming of The Outsiders.
In 1985, Emilio Estevez wrote the screenplay for the 1990 comedy thriller Men at Work, which he also directed and starred in alongside his brother, Charlie Sheen.
He’s well-known for his roles in Young Guns and its sequel, as well as the Mighty Ducks trilogy, and he recently returned to the role of Gordon Bombay in the Disney+ series The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. As a director, he worked with his father, Martin Sheen, on The War at Home, and he wrote and directed the films Bobby, The Way, and The Public (2018).
Emilio Estevez has two children, a son and a daughter, with his former partner, Carey Salley. He was also married to Paula Abdul from 1992 to 1994.

In the movie St. Elmo’s Fire, Jules, a Georgetown graduate, is caught in a difficult situation: she’s having an affair with her married boss. Fortunately, she has a strong support system in her friends. This was the only film featuring Demi Moore as part of the “Brat Pack,” but the label stayed with her, partly because she briefly dated her costar, Emilio Estevez.
Demi Moore, known for her revealing memoir Inside Out, went on to become a prominent movie star. She appeared in several popular films, including Ghost, G.I. Jane, Now & Then, Indecent Proposal, Disclosure, and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. In 1996, she made history by receiving a $12.5 million salary for the film Striptease, which was the highest amount ever paid to an actress at the time.
Recently, Moore appeared in the Peacock series Brave New World, the Amazon miniseries Dirty Diana, and FX’s Feud: Capote vs. the Swans (alongside Ringwald). Plus, she’s received an Oscar nomination for her role in the 2024 horror film The Substance.
Demi Moore has three daughters – Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah – with her former husband, Bruce Willis. She later married Ashton Kutcher in 2005, but they split in 2011 and officially divorced in 2013.

Following his role as Billy in St. Elmo’s Fire, Rob Lowe and Demi Moore quickly worked together again in About Last Night, a film directed by Edward Zwick.
Rob Lowe was a rising star with leading-man looks, showcased in the 1990 thriller Bad Influence. His career stalled after a personal scandal involving a sex tape. However, he successfully turned things around by appearing on Saturday Night Live and poking fun at himself. He then became known for his memorable comedic villain roles in the 1992 film Wayne’s World and 1995’s Tommy Boy, both of which were produced by his friend Lorne Michaels.
Rob Lowe appeared in The Stand alongside Molly Ringwald, but he’s been a constant presence on television ever since landing the role of Sam Seaborn in The West Wing in 1999. Some of his notable roles this century include Brothers & Sisters, Californication, and Parks and Recreation, which even inspired his podcast, Literally! With Rob Lowe. He also received critical acclaim for his unrecognizable portrayal of Liberace’s plastic surgeon in the 2013 HBO film Behind the Candelabra.
In 2020, Rob Lowe became part of Ryan Murphy’s television universe, playing the captain of a firehouse on 911: Lone Star. Beyond his acting, he also created and stars in the Netflix comedy Unstable alongside his son, John Owen Lowe, and hosts the game show The Floor.
The actor also shares son Matthew Lowe with his wife since 1991, Sheryl Berkoff.

He really showed his range as an actor, first playing the rebellious and troubled John Bender in The Breakfast Club, and then shifting to a more mature, ambitious character ready for commitment in St. Elmo’s Fire, where he was set to marry Leslie (Ally Sheedy).
For the movie version of Jay McInerney’s 1980s novel Bright Lights, Big City, several actors—including Nelson, Estevez, and Lowe—were considered to play the partygoing character Tad Allaghash. The role ultimately went to Kiefer Sutherland, though Tom Cruise was originally cast as Jamie, a fact-checker going through a crisis. Later, Michael J. Fox replaced Cruise in the project.
After graduating from college, he received a Golden Globe nomination for his role in the 1988 miniseries Billionaire Boys Club. He went on to play memorable characters like a smooth record executive in Airheads, Brooke Shields’ boss on Suddenly Susan, and a cunning music executive who opposed Terrence Howard’s character on Empire.
In 2018, Nelson portrayed the father of his character, Joe Hunt, in the movie Billionaire Boys Club. He has also appeared in recent films like Save Christmas, Dante’s Hotel, and South of Hope Street.

In the film St. Elmo’s Fire, Andrew McCarthy portrayed Kevin, a Georgetown University graduate. He then played Blane, a wealthy high school student in Pretty in Pink, who falls for Andie, a creative and independent outcast. Andie’s unique style and personality set her apart from the other students.
She then starred in roles like a window dresser inspired by a living mannequin in Mannequin and a cynical college student in Less Than Zero (alongside Robert Downey Jr. and James Spader, who also appeared in Pretty in Pink – both films are associated with the “Brat Pack” era). And, of course, Weekend at Bernie’s remains a famously hilarious movie that needs no introduction.
After the 1980s, McCarthy appeared in films like The Joy Luck Club and Mulholland Falls. He also pursued theater, performing in Long Day’s Journey Into Night and famously telling People magazine in 1999 that the “Brat Pack” label was inaccurate. He became a prolific television director, working on popular shows including Gossip Girl, Orange Is the New Black, The Blacklist, The Sinner, and Good Girls.
In 2022, he appeared on the TV show The Resident for one season. The following year, in 2023, he starred in the independent film Grace Point alongside John Owen Lowe.
McCarthy is a celebrated travel writer and previously published the young adult novel Just Fly Away. He then explored how being labeled part of the ‘Brat Pack’ impacted his life in his 2021 memoir, Brat: An ’80s Story.
The New Jersey resident delved deeper into how the nickname affected culture in the 2024 documentary, Brats.
Mary McCarthy has two children: a son from her marriage to Carol Schneider, and a daughter with her current wife, Dolores Rice, whom she married in 2011.

Anthony Michael Hall often played the classic nerd or awkward teen in John Hughes films like Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Weird Science—he was even briefly dating Molly Ringwald at the time. That’s why it was surprising to see him cast as a villain who meets a tragic end in Edward Scissorhands.
In 1985, Keegan-Michael Key joined the cast of Saturday Night Live at just 17 years old, making him the youngest person ever to be a regular performer on the show. That was the same season Robert Downey Jr. was a cast member, and Key is actually the godfather of Downey Jr.’s son, Indio.
Similar to Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hall was only on Saturday Night Live for a single season. He then consistently appeared in smaller acting roles throughout the 1990s, culminating in his portrayal of Microsoft founder Bill Gates in the highly discussed 1999 TV movie Pirates of Silicon Valley.
Anthony Hall is the only original member of the ‘Brat Pack’ who transformed so completely that many people didn’t recognize him when he returned to acting as John Gates. He became well-known for his role in the TV series The Dead Zone (2002-2007), an adaptation of the Stephen King novel. He’s also appeared in notable films like The Dark Knight, Foxcatcher, Live by Night, and War Machine. More recently, he’s had roles as Principal Featherhead on Riverdale, and in recurring parts on The Goldbergs and Bosch: Legacy.
Next up is the June 2024 Netflix movie Trigger Warning with Jessica Alba.
Hall described his former girlfriend, Molly Ringwald, as “wonderful” and a “great lady.” He told Page Six in February 2020 that they’ve remained friends and he’s seen her occasionally over the years.
In 2020, Hall married his partner of many years, Lucia Oskerova. They had a son in June 2023.

Ally Sheedy, known for her role in WarGames, went on to play the quirky Allison in The Breakfast Club and the college graduate Leslie in St. Elmo’s Fire. She was also a bridesmaid at Demi Moore and Bruce Willis’s wedding in 1987.
In a 2010 interview with NPR, she remembered feeling thrilled to finally be accepted by her colleagues. She hadn’t been popular in high school, and she cherished having genuine friendships and being able to work with people she truly cared about. She described herself as ‘blissfully happy’ and expressed deep affection for those friends.
Ally Sheedy gained recognition for her role in the 1986 comedy Short Circuit, which received praise from the New York Times. She also starred alongside John Candy in the 1992 film Only the Lonely, and brought her personal experiences with sleeping pill addiction to her acclaimed performance in the 1998 independent film High Art.
She’s been on TV shows like Oz, The Dead Zone (alongside Hall), CSI, Kyle XY, and Psych. She’s also appeared in the films Shutter Island, Welcome to the Rileys with Kristen Stewart, and X-Men: Apocalypse.
Oh my gosh, seeing Molly Ringwald on set with Ally Sheedy again was EVERYTHING! It was on Ally’s show, Single Drunk Female, last year, and honestly, it was the highlight of my year. They have so much history together, they barely even need to talk to each other – the chemistry is just instant! I read an interview where Molly said the hardest part was trying not to cry while filming! It was just… magical. Seriously, a dream come true for a fan like me!
