You might have tried connecting your AirPods directly to a PlayStation 5 and found it doesn’t work—it’s not as simple as pairing them with your phone. However, there are two easy ways to still use your AirPods with your PS5. This guide will show you how.
1st Option
The simplest way to connect AirPods to your console is with a Bluetooth adapter that plugs directly into it. When you buy one, be sure it supports Bluetooth 5.0, because older adapters often don’t work with AirPods. You’ll need to purchase the adapter separately from your PS5, but it’s a more affordable option if you don’t want to spend a lot on a headset.

Connect the Bluetooth adapter to a USB port on your PlayStation 5. Put your AirPods into pairing mode. Once the lights on the AirPods stop blinking, they’ll be connected.
As a PS5 and AirPods user, I was so excited to get these working together! Usually, my AirPods connect and start playing the PS5 audio right away. But if yours aren’t connecting automatically, don’t panic! Just double-check the instructions that came with the adapter you’re using – they can vary a little depending on the brand.
2nd Option
Okay, so if you’ve got a smart TV with Bluetooth, you can actually send the sound from your PS5 through the TV and then to your AirPods! It’s awesome because you don’t just need a TV that connects to Bluetooth in general – it has to be able to handle Bluetooth audio specifically. That’s a key thing to check, or it just won’t work!
First, go to the settings on your TV and find the ‘Devices’ or ‘Accessories’ menu. Next, put your AirPods into pairing mode. Then, tell your TV to search for new devices and wait for your AirPods to show up in the list. Once you see them, select your AirPods and give your TV a moment to connect.
If you’re not getting sound immediately, double-check your TV’s audio settings and make sure the sound is being sent to your AirPods. Sometimes your TV might not switch to the AirPods automatically, even if it sees them connected. After you’ve adjusted the TV settings, turn on your PS5, and the game sound should play through your AirPods.

Connecting your AirPods to your PS5 is surprisingly simple, whether you use a Bluetooth adapter or your TV’s built-in Bluetooth. There are a couple of ways to do it, and either one works great. Choose the method that best suits your equipment, and you’ll be able to play games without needing to buy a costly headset.
