We’re so glad we had this time with Carol Burnett.
Beloved comedian Betty White turned 93 on April 26th, and she celebrated with a dinner at Lucky’s steakhouse in Montecito, California.
Carol celebrated her birthday in comfortable style, wearing black pants and a long, white textured jacket. She was accompanied by her husband of 25 years, Brian Miller, a 70-year-old musician who looked very smart in a dark gray suit.
The birthday party was a special occasion for the former star of the Carol Burnett Show, but even at 90 years old, she remains very active in her career. She recently appeared in the series Palm Royale and Hacks.
In a 2024 interview with TopMob News, she emphasized the importance of appreciating life and staying mentally sharp as you age.
After a remarkable seven-decade career, she’s had plenty of time to think about what she’d tell her younger self, and her advice is simple: never give up.
Carol always dreamed of working in the entertainment industry, growing up in Hollywood. As a child, she often went to movie premieres with her grandmother, which fueled that passion.
Carol remembered in an interview with People that she and others would gather to watch Lana Turner arrive in her limousine. She was especially thrilled to see Jimmy Stewart, whom she greatly admired.

The Annie star also mentioned that when she was nine years old, one of her favorite actresses was Linda Darnell.
Getting to know Linda when she was starting out influenced how Carol would later connect with her own supporters.
Carol fondly remembered Linda Darnell’s kindness, saying, “It’s something I’ll always cherish. It reminds me to pass on good deeds to others, because even a small act of kindness can make a huge difference.”

She told Self magazine that she doesn’t focus on whether aging makes you look better or worse, but simply sees it as a natural part of life. “You change, and that’s perfectly fine,” she explained. “Life is all about change.”

It’s impossible to stop aging – we all do! Many women feel like getting older is a personal failing, as if they should still look young. But I think aging is something to be grateful for, because not everyone gets the chance to grow old.

Throughout history, whenever women have achieved progress, society often responds by finding new ways to hold them back. Currently, it feels like there’s a lot of pressure on women to maintain a certain appearance – they’re not ‘allowed’ to age naturally or show the changes of pregnancy. This feels more intense than ever, and it’s a clever way to control people by making them feel ashamed of their bodies. But I’m choosing to reject that shame and embrace being human, as she explained to the Los Angeles Times.

Turning 40 made me realize I’ve grown more comfortable with who I am,” she shared with Harper’s Bazaar. “It’s been a really comforting feeling.”

She told Popsugar that she’s actually more content with her body now because it’s a result of her hard work. While she acknowledges her body looked ‘better’ in her early twenties, she didn’t enjoy it then, as she was constantly comparing herself to others. Now, she has a much healthier relationship with it.

I’m okay with getting older and the changes that come with it, like wrinkles and the effects of gravity. They’re a small price to pay for the growth and understanding I’ve gained. Even if my body changes significantly, I won’t be concerned,” she explained to Bustle.

“F–k you. I’m 50. That’s what I’m going to say when I turn 50. Sorry,” as she told Popsugar.

After sixty years of life, I’ve realized one thing above all else: being fearless is incredibly valuable. For a long time, I let fear hold me back, and honestly, it’s something I really regret. I wish I hadn’t been so afraid of everything, but that’s a lesson I’ve learned over time, as I shared with PopSugar.

It’s funny how your perspective on age changes. When you’re young, older ages seem so far off and maybe even daunting. But then you reach those ages and realize they’re actually wonderful. You start to think about the next milestone, and then, surprisingly, you enjoy that one too. With each age, you gain the wisdom to appreciate and live fully in that moment, she explained to Bustle.
“I do think about ageing. I have those moments of panic and vanity, but life keeps getting better, so you can’t worry about it too much,” she told Marie Claire UK.
She told Ok! Magazine that she doesn’t believe in aging, but rather in growing wiser and gaining knowledge, which she considers true beauty.

She expressed surprise that anyone wouldn’t agree women become more beautiful with age, explaining that confidence grows over time and is the key to true beauty, as she shared with Net-a-Porter Magazine.

Lying about your age is a form of dishonesty that fuels a larger problem in our culture—the desire to be someone you’re not. She explained in O, The Oprah Magazine that true fulfillment comes from embracing who you really are.

Growing older is inevitable, but how you approach it is up to you. Looking at my face, I see my entire life story – every wrinkle, every line, every spot. It’s often said that your outer appearance reflects your inner self. If you don’t smile much, your face will likely droop. But if you’re a joyful person, you’ll develop smile lines. Your wrinkles aren’t flaws; they’re a record of your experiences, a map of the life you’ve lived. My face shows the marks of all my adventures – the sun, wind, rain, and dust. It holds all my memories, so why would I want to get rid of them?” she shared with Vogue.

She told Glamour that as women age, they often become more comfortable and confident with their sexuality, losing any feelings of embarrassment or intimidation. She believes sexuality and femininity grow with age, wisdom, and self-acceptance.
