Fans are still likely upset by the heartbreaking ending of Casualty’s Learning Curve storyline, where Kim Chang (Jasmine Bayes) sadly died from organ failure.
The characters barely had time to process their sadness and the belief they were responsible for the doctor’s death, as the new boxset, titled Lethal Legacy, was scheduled to be released just a week later.
As many viewers remember, Kim was found unconscious at her home by her coworker, Matty Linlaker (played by Aron Julius), after an overdose of diet pills. He also found her diary, which documented instances where her mentor, Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless), had criticized her.
He immediately blamed Stevie for the situation, but he also seemed to feel responsible, as they had both come to Holby City together.
Right after Kim’s funeral, the emergency department was thrown into chaos with a new crisis. Patients started arriving with an unknown illness, and the staff struggled to figure out what was wrong.

Olly suggested Stevie see a therapist to cope with her grief. Meanwhile, Matty tried to arrange a difficult meeting between his mother, Sarah, and his father, Dylan, who they haven’t seen in a while. Despite this, Stevie was constantly reminded of Kim, finding a program for her funeral in her locker. She didn’t have time to process it, though, as she rushed back to perform a dangerous operation.

A sudden power outage created tension between Stevie and Matty. Though she was upset, he sensed her pain and didn’t react to her sharp words. While Stevie was in an online therapy session during her break, Matty tried to reach her with a patient update, but she didn’t see his calls. When she returned, she angrily confronted him for not keeping her informed. It quickly became clear that Stevie was overreacting, and she’s not one to apologize easily. This led to an argument, but they both eventually recognized they were facing the same challenges and needed to support each other.
Then, in a surprising turn of events, they shared a passionate kiss right outside the emergency department – a development absolutely no one predicted!

I’m a huge fan of Michael Adams – he’s the Soaps Editor over at TopMob, and honestly, he knows everything about our favorite shows! He keeps us up-to-date with all the drama from Weatherfield (that’s Corrie!), Walford (EastEnders, of course!), Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, and pretty much every other soap out there. Before TopMob, he was a Soaps Reporter at Metro for a couple of years, and even worked on the sets of Corrie and Emmerdale! You can tell he really knows his stuff.
