I’m so thrilled to hear that Prime Video is bringing Stargate back! Now that Amazon fully owns MGM, they’ve been figuring out which franchises to revive, and it’s amazing that Stargate made the cut – right after James Bond, apparently! As a longtime fan, I’ve been hoping for a new Stargate show for nearly ten years, and it sounds like there’s even more good news on the way!
During an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, host Josh Horowitz asked Edgar Wright if he’d be interested in directing a DC Studios project, noting James Gunn’s aim to create a more director-driven environment. Wright responded that it would depend on the project itself. He explained that he’s drawn to opportunities where he can establish a unique vision, like those who helmed the first installments of iconic franchises. He cited Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, and Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins as examples of films that were both huge successes and distinctly personal, showcasing a director’s individual style even within a large studio system.
As the story heats up, Jujutsu Kaisen will be introducing several new characters who are central to the plot. One of these is Master Tengen, a character fans may already know about, but who will finally appear in the anime. Yoshiko Sakakibara, who narrated the Shibuya Incident Arc, will be providing the voice for Master Tengen, emphasizing their importance. Master Tengen has remained largely a mystery since the Gojo’s Past Arc, but they hold a vital piece of information – the key to freeing Gojo from the Prison Realm. The anime’s official website has released a first look at the character, along with comments from the voice actor.
In a surprising turn of events, Star Wars has revealed that Qui-Gon Jinn, the Jedi Master best known for his death, actually experienced a near-fatal incident previously. The current storyline in Star Wars: Jedi Knight #9, by Marc Guggenheim and Madibek Musabekov, follows Qui-Gon’s investigation into an assassin targeting him. The assassin almost succeeded, causing Qui-Gon’s heart to stop, but he was saved by fellow Jedi Masters Mace Windu and Aayla Secura.
It makes sense that Spider-Man won’t be involved in the next major Marvel event, as he’s currently operating independently. The upcoming film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, will focus on his adventures teaming up with characters like the Punisher and the Hulk to fight new villains. However, the addition of Sadie Sink, the star of Stranger Things, has everyone online buzzing because her role is still a secret. While many theories are circulating, there isn’t enough information to determine what part she’ll play. Recent news, though, might finally reveal Sink’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and what it could mean for the story.
Fans of The Amazing World of Gumball got a treat this summer with the arrival of its sequel, The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball, on Hulu. The new series continues the adventures of Gumball, the blue cat, without significantly aging the characters. The second season is set to premiere on December 22nd, just in time for the holidays! Viewers in North America can watch on Hulu, while international fans will find it on Cartoon Network and HBO Max in February.
