One of 2025’s Best Horror Movies Is Already Streaming Free (But There’s a Problem)

Osgood Perkins’ film The Monkey, based on Stephen King’s 1980 novel, became available to stream on Kanopy on October 31st. Just eight months after its release in theaters, the movie is now available for free streaming, though you’ll need a library card to sign up for Kanopy. The film stars Theo James as twin brothers, Hal and Bill, whose lives are thrown into chaos when they find a strange wind-up monkey in their attic, leading to a series of terrifying deaths.

GOG Makes Sci-Fi Horror PC Game Free for 48 Hours

GOG is currently giving away a free PC game called Statis, a sci-fi horror adventure played from an overhead, point-and-click perspective. It’s the first game from developer The Brotherhood, who recently released Stasis: Bone Totem in 2023 – a surprisingly great horror title. While the original Statis from 2015 isn’t quite as polished, it’s still a good choice if you’re looking for more sci-fi horror experiences.

Sony Planning Major Expansion With Live-Action Anime Adaptations

Sony Pictures Entertainment has enjoyed significant box office success this year, largely due to the popular anime films Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle and Chainsaw Man The Movie: The Reze Arc. The studio is now actively exploring opportunities to create live-action adaptations of other anime properties. According to Executive VP Shebnem Askin, Sony is meeting with various production companies to identify promising anime stories for potential worldwide live-action releases, a key focus of their presence at TIFFCOM.

Beloved 2021 Indie Horror Game Announces Brand New Story DLC

Mob Entertainment first released Poppy Playtime in 2021, and has since added three new downloadable content (DLC) chapters that continue the game’s story. These DLCs, which cost between $9.99 and $19.99, delve deeper into the lore of the spooky toy factory. The latest chapter, Chapter 4, came out in January, and now Mob Entertainment has officially announced that the story will continue with a new teaser trailer for Poppy Playtime Chapter 5.
