Instead of “When you think of action-adventure titles, it’s usually a game with incredible set pieces, varied locations and a one-and-done narrative,” you could say:
The Nice House on the Lake was a remarkable series, boasting an array of appealing descriptors beginning with the letter S. It was surreal in its plot twists, subversively challenging expectations, cleverly written, and downright terrifying. The tale of a group of successful friends invited to a seemingly idyllic retreat, only to find themselves prisoners of an otherworldly consciousness as Earth perished, captivated readers from the start and left us yearning for more over the course of twelve issues. In the same vein, The Nice House on the Sea, its sequel, can be described using the same adjectives. It presents a new cast of characters in a fresh setting while maintaining the same intriguing premise. However, what sets it apart is how swiftly it expands upon the foundation laid before and alters our understanding once more.
The lead rules designer of Dungeons & Dragons provided some additional insight as to why the Paladin’s signature ability was changed. Earlier this summer, Wizards of the Coast confirmed that the 2024 Player’s Handbook for Dungeons & Dragons would feature new rules for the Paladin and in particular new limitations on when and how the class’s signature ability Divine Smite could be used. The rules changes were controversial with some players, who felt that it represented a rare nerf within the new Player’s Handbook.
In an unexpected move, Davide Soliani has disclosed that he is departing from Ubisoft after having worked there for 25 years. Notably, he has been instrumental in developing the Mario + Rabbids series on Nintendo Switch for over a decade. Soliani made this announcement via his X/Twitter account and expressed gratitude to fans, as well as sharing a memorable image of the unveiling of “Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle” at E3 2017. While Soliani gave a hint about his future plans, it remains uncertain where he will go next. We eagerly anticipate that his upcoming project will generate the same level of success as the Mario + Rabbids games.
Lisa Kudrow is set to make her comeback on TV this month with the new Apple TV+ series “Time Bandits,” based on Terry Gilliam’s classic movie of the same name. This television adaptation, developed by Jemaine Clement (“Flight of the Conchords”), Iain Morris (“The Inbetweeners”), and Taika Waititi (“Thor: Ragnarok”), is produced by Paramount Television Studios, Anonymous Content’s AC Studios, and MRC. The story follows an 11-year-old history enthusiast who is kidnapped by a band of thieves and taken on an unforgettable adventure through space and time. Not only will they attempt to save his parents, but he’ll also encounter numerous historical figures and eccentric characters – think “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure,” but with pirates, in which Lisa Kudrow and her team are involved.
