The original Dance Dance Revolution first appeared in Japanese arcades in 1998, and quickly became popular in North America the next year. By 2000, it was a global arcade hit. Over the decade, the game became more elaborate with a wider selection of songs, larger and brighter screens, vibrant lights, and powerful sound systems. This made it a major attraction in arcades, with players often waiting their turn to dance and hit the pads in time with the music. The game then expanded beyond arcades, appearing on home consoles and in a variety of cabinet designs.

A version of the popular card game Balatro is now available for the Nintendo Switch 2. It first appeared in the German eShop but is now available to US customers as well. Players who already own Balatro on the original Switch can upgrade for free. New players can purchase the Switch 2 version for $14.99, currently discounted by 20%. This release is a bit different from other Switch 2 games that have been launched so far.

Tubi is removing two horror remakes at the end of the month: The Hills Have Eyes and When a Stranger Calls. Both films originally premiered in theaters in 2006 and are updated versions of popular movies from the 1970s. Alexandre Aja directed The Hills Have Eyes, a terrifying story about a family stalked by cannibals, while Simon West helmed When a Stranger Calls, a suspenseful thriller featuring a teenage babysitter tormented by a mysterious and dangerous killer.

Even after five years, I still often think about Immortals Fenyx Rising. While it was originally criticized for being similar to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, that comparison didn’t let people fully appreciate the game. It had a really enjoyable world filled with puzzles, battles, and imaginative locations inspired by Greek myths. Ubisoft created a lively and engaging game, but they haven’t explored its full potential. A sequel could have built on the strengths of the first game and made it even better, but unfortunately, Ubisoft has decided not to continue the series after only one installment.

According to VGC, Clint Hocking, the creative director of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe, has left Ubisoft. Hocking is a veteran of the company, having previously worked on early Splinter Cell games and as creative director for Far Cry 2. Ubisoft has appointed Jean Guesdon as the new head of content for the Assassin’s Creed series, and he will now lead the development of Hexe.

Some players are unhappy with a recent update to Arc Raiders, feeling it negatively impacts their favorite way to play. Previously, many relied on strategies using Wolfpacks and Deadlines to overcome challenging enemies. Now, those players are voicing concerns that the update unfairly penalizes builds they’ve spent time and effort developing, and many are calling it a ‘nerf’.

In a recent interview with Comic Book, the team behind Pixar’s upcoming film, Hoppers, discussed which character they believe will be the breakout favorite with audiences. As is typical with Pixar films, there’s usually one character that quickly becomes a fan favorite. Director Daniel Chong revealed that character is already clear: it’s Tom, the lizard.
