Many of the most famous superheroes actually weren’t created by Marvel or DC Comics. We’re going to explore ten of the best heroes who originated outside of those two companies. For our purposes, a hero needs to have a secret identity, fight bad guys, and have a recognizable look – like a costume or a unique appearance. It’s worth noting that there are many more heroes who would fit this description, but we’ve selected ten we think superhero fans will really enjoy. Let’s get started!

IDW Publishing recently launched IDW Dark, a new line of horror comics, to take advantage of the growing popularity of the genre. Popular titles like IDW’s Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees, along with comics based on The Twilight Zone and Event Horizon, found a home with the imprint. Now, IDW Dark is growing again with A Quiet Place: Storm Warning, a new story by Phil Hester (known for Swamp Thing and Green Arrow) and Ryan Kelly (Lucifer, Local). This story both expands the world of A Quiet Place and delivers a thrilling, standalone experience.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, characters rarely remain dead for long. According to insider Daniel Richtman, Marvel is reportedly developing a Scarlet Witch movie planned for Phase 7, which could open the door to adapting a well-known storyline from the comics.

Prime 1 Studio is releasing a new Batman statue called Batman Berserk: Dark Age Saga (also known as Batman: The Berserker Rage Mode). It depicts Batman as a fierce warrior, clad in armor reminiscent of the style seen around the character Guts from Berserk. The statue costs $1699 and is expected to ship between May and August of next year. You can see a video of this impressive recreation below, and fans are hoping it could hint at a future collaboration between Batman and Guts.

We’ve recently seen several key figures from Nintendo’s past retire or leave the company, leaving behind an incredible impact. This latest departure is especially difficult, though, considering how many successful games this person helped complete.

RJ Cyler, who played the Blue Ranger in Power Rangers, recently shared on The Joe Vulpis Podcast that while the Ranger suits looked great, they were actually quite painful to wear. He explained that stretching into the suit felt good visually, but the discomfort was intense. “It really killed my shoulders,” Cyler said, adding, “Oh, it kills.”
